All I have seen of the Bynum foul is slow motion replays which of course will always make it look more dramatic. Do I really deep down believe Bynum was trying to hurt the little guy? Granted, there were 9:00 min left in the game, but at that juncture I'm sure there was no doubt who would win. He doesn't even have to get a hard foul to get hurt. He could've flipped an ankle. A lost player is a lost player.

Whining? I wouldn't go that far. Maybe I'm just the type that would worry about my players in a game that has gotten out of hand. Humiliated people do crazy things in the heat of the moment. I'd hate for that to cost me down the road. Maybe I'm also the type to think that piling on is unnecessary.

You always worry about your star players getting hurt. Dirk only played 31 minutes. What I think we disagree on is the piling on part. If they had played the paint hard and scored then you would be calling that "piling on". Instead they play the clock and shoot outside jumpers and you call that "piling on". Until you can run the clock down to zero you should be trying to score when you shoot the ball. That's what the Mavs did. I think this was one of those rare ocassions when a team could not miss. They had to shoot the ball at some point and when they did they made most of them.

You can't pull your starters with 9:00 left. With a 25 point lead, you figure that the worst the other team can go is six points a minute. You pull you starters with four left if it's a critical game. If the lead is 30, you pull them with five minutes left. It's just a matter of math.

Actually, true flagrant fouls don't bother me at all.....it's a mans game and hard/flagrant fouls are part of it. But what really irks me is how the refs are taking all the fun and energy out of the game by calling all these really ridiculous "chippy" fouls that are not really fouls at all. They are so paranoid about players getting into a fight that if two players even eyeball each other they get technicals. It's stupid.

I hate chippy fouls too. Flagrant and hard fouls serve their purpose in basketball. There is a big difference between flagrant and flagrant with harmful intent.

I'm also a believer in "having your players back" and "payback". Otherwise players won't respect you and will treat you like their "bitches".
