I suspect regardless of the party there would be the temptation to leak a picture.
I the grand scheme of things I don't believe there are as many positives as there are negatives to releasing the picture.

I was waterboarded as part of my military training.....it is not torture under this definition or any other definition.......you want to believe it is torture so you decide to believe it.....your decision to believe waterboarding is torture is an emotional decision on your part, not an intellectual decision......you just hate Bush and Cheney......

The picture will be leaked very soon.....infinitely more reasons to release it....those people find reasons to hate us, it doesn't matter what we do. They're still upset about the Crusades....you shouldn't be scared of them and let them dictate what we do........

Excuse me while I adjust my tinfoil.
FACEBOOK CONSPIRACY THEORY OF THE WEEK: “What would you say if someone credible told you that Osama Bin Laden is providing valuable information during his interrogation this week? He knows the world believes he is dead, and that there is no hope of rescue. Brilliant strategy by US to create a Schroedinger terrorist mastermind who is both dead and alive at the same time, as long as the box stays closed.”

Bin Laden Shrine Fears As Tourists Flock To Death Compound
Updated: Thursday, 05 May 2011, 8:27 AM EDT
Published : Thursday, 05 May 2011, 7:41 AM EDTBy NewsCore
ABBOTTABAD, Pakistan - US efforts to prevent a shrine to Osama bin Laden were under threat Thursday as several hundred sightseers flocked to the house where the world's most notorious terrorist met his death.
Pakistan officials said the compound in Abbottabad where bin Laden was shot dead Sunday already became a tourist attraction and that there were no plans to destroy the building.
"I can tell you for a fact that it will become a place of tourism," said Dr. Muhammad Azfar Nisar, the deputy civil chief of the city. "People are already coming here from as far away as Lahore to see the house, so why should we destroy the building? The more revenue, the better."
Nisar said the city might even expand to accommodate tourist demand. "I am sure some hotels will be constructed nearby the house if the military allow it," he added.
The site, No. 254, was temporarily put off-limits early Wednesday by police who secured it for a visit by military intelligence and Pakistan's secret service, but by mid-afternoon, the scene was reopened -- and crowds of civilians gathered outside.
"I've come here today to see a piece of our history," said Ahmed, 24, who brought his 11-month-old daughter with him. "Osama was a good Muslim who fought for Islam. He was a hero to us. I expect in time to see all sorts of tourists here, even Japanese and Americans."
However, others were not as impressed by the relatively-Westernized lifestyle of the al Qaeda leader.
"I had thought he would be living in a cave like a proper rebel outlaw," said 25-year-old Zulqurnain. "But instead they say he was hiding here, in a nice residential area. I'm a bit disappointed and can't believe it. Even so, I will come to visit again. Osama was our lion."
After US special forces shot bin Laden dead, his body was buried at sea to deny his supporters a symbolic rallying point or place of pilgrimage.

Counselor, Counselor. Nothing you typed contradicts any of my points. You are simply engaging in "repeating the Dem playbook" tactic.
Obama will never disavow waterboarding or call it "torture" again because of its potential vitalness to national security. But he has thousands of talking heads posturing and handwringing for him.

I’ve considered this. It is truly cynical to think that these pictures could be used in such a way, but it’s not unimaginable. If these pictures do somehow “magically” appear for public view between now (now that Obama has drawn the line in the dirt) and the election, it will be the result of a cold, calculating, political gambit. Such a gambit will further underscore just how despicable and hypocritical a politician Obama really is.

I understand the article the same way you do. My point is that the Atlantic isn’t as dismissive of the enhanced interrogation techniques as is the NYT.
