If that IS THE CASE, then the $500 million (or is it BILLIONS) they need for ramping up the health care in this country is "bail out funds" for the failing Obamacare, along with another distraction from the midterms.

There is a reason for all this hype over Ebola. First of all why did the first two cases who went to Emory Hospital get treated with this so called experimental Serum ZMAPP and recovered almost over night. Why wasn't Duncan treated with it and died. What about these other two Nurses, what are they being treated with? Why haven't any Health Officials in Liberia been featured on any news casts. Why does the CDC have a patent on the Ebola virus, how does this virus affect the body, and are we being told the truth of it's symptoms and virulence. There simply is way to many holes in this story. I'll tell ya this if they roll out a vaccine don't take it no matter what you're being told. Unfortunately your doctor doesn't even know what's really in the vaccine or how it was even made.

There was a reason for all the hype over AIDS about 30 years ago.

There still is a reason.

Of course there is. When did you first hear about AIDS? Early Eighties right. Did it seem there was a specific group who were regarded as the most likely recipients of the illness? I remember it was centered within the Homosexual community. Then AIDS seemed to gravitate into the Heterosexual community, but Bisexuals were blamed for getting it there. So now the same scenario seems to be taking place with Ebola. Africa, third world countries, Black people, it's their disease. All this is very untrue of course. We all have the same system. what we don't have is the same environment, and diets , medical facilities and medical care. Third World Countries like West Africa have sanitation issues. People get sick and people die rather quickly. Not only can America contain something like Ebola we shouldn't even see a case of it.

Of course the CDC has already admitted she shouldn't have left Dallas, she has the Ebola virus. The nurse did not break any protocol that the CDC had established at the time. The CDC was mistaken because this temperature max that they use to make decisions on flying is set at the wrong number. (They being the rep who took the call from nurse Vinson)

What I wrote was correct. Sanjay Gupta M.D. showed a copy of the CDC document that has the temperature maximum allowed for flying. Gupta was on CNN Tuesday night with Anderson Cooper. Cooper asked Gupta why would someone be allowed to fly with a temperature of 99.5. Gupta talked about this 101.5 maximum for several minutes. So, when the nurse called CDC and reported her temperature of 99.5 the CDC rep looked at the document and saw that her temperature was less than the 101.5 and gave her the green light to get on the plane.

If Gupta was wrong about what he said on T.V. then that is a different thing. The local papers have written about this maximum temperature. In my local paper the maximum was listed as 100.5.

Elevated temperature isn't always an indication of disease. Our temperatures can be elevated anytime due to stress, fatigue, abrupt change in diet ect. Remember Apollo 13? Ken Mattingly was scratch off the crew because of elevated temperature they thought he had been exposed to the measles, well he never got sick.

My doc doesn't consider 99.5 to even be elevated. Sorry, Jim. As much as it pains me, I have to with Fluffy on this one.

IMO she should have personally made that decision herself for herself, but that is not worthy of pulling her ticket based on what is being reported, and the instructions given by the CDC personnel she contacted (if that is true).
You're right LL. I was too hasty in calling for the firing of the nurse.

The folks who came up with the protocol should be fired. Along with the nurse. And Obama. That's all. For now.

In other news, the lab tech who handled Duncan's blood sample traveled to Mexico on a cruise. Mexico wouldn't let anyone off the cruise ship.

You are missing the point. I am not debating what an elevated temperature is. I am providing an explanation for the logic the CDC used to allow Nurse Vinson to fly when she called them and reported her 99.5 temperature. Her temperature was below the threshold that the CDC uses to determine if one can fly, in addition to, do you have any other symptoms. This was in my local paper. They report that the threshold is 100.4.

CDC spokesman David Daigle says Amber Joy Vinson spoke with the CDC official responsible for monitoring her health before she boarded the flight Monday.

Daigle says the 29-year-old Vinson reported her temperature was below 100.4 degrees and she had no symptoms. Ebola sufferers aren’t contagious until they show symptoms.
The official said she could board Frontier Airlines Flight 1143.

Default Kerry has discovered the "Open Border" is a "One Way Boulevard" headed north

Quote:
The vessel is heading back to Galveston, Texas, with the passenger on board. But that's not what the U.S. government wanted.

U.S. State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf said the plan was for the passenger to get on land in Belize, then be flown back to the United States. The Belize government refused to let the passenger leave the ship, given the potential Ebola exposure, despite a plea from U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry to Belize Prime Minister Dean Barrow.

I understand what you were saying I wasn't trying to debate you on the temperature issue. I think the CDC is using temperature to over generalize. This disease is rather puzzling. They keep mentioning "Flu Like " symptoms. Ebola is nothing like the flu. The flu is a systemic virus it's endemic which means it's part of the environment. Ebola is a Hemorrhagic virus. Hemorrhage refers to bleeding. So why would this virus cause a person to bleed internally? There is only two things I can think of that would cause a person to bleed internally, trauma and connective and vascular tissues breakdown due to loss of nutrients. So I don't think Ebola is a stand alone virus. What I think it's doing is causing the body's connective tissue to fail. Some of the common symptoms that I've been hearing about are Fatigue, Joint Pain, Rashes mainly on lower Extremities, Loss of blood from mucous membranes, Severe muscle weakness. Connective tissues damage resulting in blood loss. Of course in the later stages severe vomiting and diarrhea. That would be due to the breakdown in mucous membranes in the esophagus and intestinal tract. They say there is no treatment. What's even more puzzling is the symptoms I just described are very similar to the symptoms of Scurvy. Scurvy is a deficiency of vitamin C. Now I am not going to say Ebola is anything like Scurvy but I have read some accounts where mega doses of ascorbates were given intravenously to Ebola patients in Africa to stabilize them with some good results. We aren't anything about that. I've also read articles where the us of IV drips with ascorbates was being debunked. It sounds more promising than to hear about experimental serums like ZMAPP which we don't even know what it is.

Just curious...any proof as to what her temperature was and what her symptoms were other than her word? Duncan said he hadn't been exposed to ebola before he got on the plane at Liberia. ijs.

The way ZMAPP was developed and works is explained and illustrated in this NOVA video:

Holly shit you are a font of misinformation.

The missionary doctor who got the ZMAPP responded quickly. The female nurse that worked with him did NOT. She took a lot longer to recover.

And both of them got it early. Duncan did not. He was sick for over a week before they finally diagnose what he had.

In fact, Duncan didn't get ZMAPP at all. Why? Because they were OUT of it. They actually don't have large supplies of the stuff because it is a rare disease that is normally adequately contained by quarantine.

In fact, the last person who got the ZMAPP was English. See the video link posted by IBH.

They are trying to make more, but that takes time.

So they are using other experimental vaccines

So, Mexico has no problem closing a border to keep out unwanted people, huh?

Good to know for future reference.
