The justification from a legal standpoint is that the women are often "victims" and if we can find a way to decrease demand via legislation-- then we can just help all those poor "victims".

Except.. they don't care about those poor "victims" either... they're happy to slap a misdemeanor charge on a record that still makes a person hard to hire.

New codes will have to be created for Texas hobbying. Example: A "mechanic" who happens to be female provides regular "maintenance" at her "garage". Get your belts and hoses checked.

That "legal justification" (aka unchallenged argument) does not supercede the ruling above and the fact that we have equal justice under the law. It's a flaw in this new rule big enough to drive a truck through.

This is fishing with acid.

Yep. The key is-- finding someone willing to actually fight it. For years... busts in this realm of the legal world have involved DA's offering deals to get people to simply plead out rather than fight. Lot of folks just don't want the potential publicity and fallout from fighting the higher charge.

From SuzyRoughneck's latest encounter report:

Then I flipped her over and proceeded to take a core sample. She was very enthusiastic about this-- yelling that I should DRILL BABY DRILL.

We'll need a signed lease that provides a detailed description of the obligations and expectations of both the lessee and lessor, and what exploration and drilling activities are permitted (is the site limited to only one well bore?), as well as states the amount and timing of any signing, bonus and royalty payments. Is a blow-out prevention device necessary? Is open hole completion possible?

As soon as somebody gets picked up on second offense who has more than a few grand in the bank the games begin.

There is always the possibility of a reduction in charges for a plea deal ? How good is your lawyer ? I do like to hope they hit someone with deep enough pockets to fight it.
