Hmmm, I can not help but wonder if the unemployment rate would have been lower if GW had not authorized his 5 1/2 year search for WMD's in Iraq. We certainly would have had much more discretionary funds to try to stimulate our economy.
Mo' on that later!

Don't forget the tax cuts. Take the tax cuts and the war in Iraq out of the equation, and we're now having an entirely different conversation altogether.
Hell, it might have even saved us a couple three increases in the debt ceiling under Bush.

But I suppose you could spin it your way.
But as D. Puloff has said, middle America isn't sitting around the kitchen table discussing the direction of the unemployment numbers. It still isn't anywhere near the 8.0% that Obama's EC advisor Roomer said it would be if we passed the (nearly) $1 trillion stimulus bill.
|
Whirlaway you are a fountain of misinformation- during the 2008 elections it was no secret that the winner was going to inherit 2 wars, a housing collapse and a recession that was heading to a possible depression. All the major experts predicted possible UE rate to spiral between 15 to 25% if it wasn't fixed. Ok Obama believed the stimulus could get it down to 8% it's sitting at 9.2%- which is still no where near the 15 to 25% that many experts said it could hit.
You are probably one of the many people who believe the bailouts shouldn't have been made- but you would be naive to believe that had the Banks and GM been allowed to fail that it wouldn't have affected the UE rate?
As far as answering your question- I would like the rich to return to the tax rate they paid under Clinton- again the rich are paying the least amount of taxes in the last 60 years- trickle down economic is dead- if the theory still works- why not huge employment during Bush's years?
Also Whirl I ask this question in a previous post- you didn't answer so here it is again: What is your political affiliation:
A. You hate Obama
B. You hated Bush
C. You said you didn't vote in 2008
Are you a member of the Tea-Party(i.e Far right wing Republican) a socialist(I doubt it) or a Libertarian? Which candidate are you supporting for 2012?

I almost feel sorry for Bush these days. Never has a former President been hated by so many who defended his nearly every move while he was in office.
They think "i hated Bush too" gives them credibility when it comes to their Obama hatred.
Also Whirl I ask this question in a previous post- you didn't answer so here it is again: What is your political affiliation:
A. You hate Obama - Not hate; He is a politican driven by his "social justice" agendas. He is incompetent to govern. He could have won me over had he governed from the center and not turned his agenda over to Pelosi-Reid, re-organizing 1/7th of our econmy in a 3,000 page bill that had no broad concensus in the country. A bill that was passed in the middle of the night, and "had to be passed so we could know what was in it."
B. You hated Bush - Did not vote for Bush in either election and don't hate him; like I said I think he was a big spender who cozied up to big business too much.
C. You said you didn't vote in 2008 - Never said that. I said I didn't vote for McCain.
Are you a member of the Tea-Party(i.e Far right wing Republican) a socialist(I doubt it) or a Libertarian? I am a social conservative economic libertarian who believes in less government, more individual freedoms and responsibilities. I believe in empowering the individual, not a bunch of elites in Washington, DC. I favor state federalism over centralized government. Which candidate are you supporting for 2012? I don't know yet; but the candidate that most closely reflects my orientation(s).
Damn Whirly, you are way the hell out there! I am not aware of a past or present President who even comes close to falling under your political persuasion!
Please indulge me for a moment! What is a "social conservative economic libertarian" doing on an adult hobby board? Why aren't you preaching the gospel in a small, non-denominational church in the deep south to a congregation of a dozen or so, like minded people? You could wail away for hours about the evils of wine, women and song. On that rare Sunday morning when you feel the desire to deviate from your normal message, you could always share a few additional thoughts about segregation!
I believe you might have missed your callin'!

BigTex I couldn't have said it better- what in the world is a social conservative economic libertarian it seems like that term in itself is an oxymoron.
By the way Whirlway- you said you didn't vote for McCain correct? So did you vote for Obama in 2008? Because I doubt very seriously a social conservative libertarian would have voted for a liberal like Obama.
However, if you didn't vote it would greatly affect your credibility- one thing I can't stand is people who complain about the status quo but don't go out and vote and there's plenty of people who don't vote but want to cry and whine of how bad things are in this country.
Whirl you really need to turn off this right wing talk show hosts who are feeding you bullshit. Think about this Whirl- if people like Rush, Hannity, and Beck can tell you how bad Obama is and how they know all the right answers to America's problems then why are they not running for President??? See they rather poison and brainwash you why they make millions spewing their opinions which isn't worth crap to anyone but them- again if Rush has all the solutions wouldn't he be dong America a favor by getting off his fat ass and running for some office? I think deep down Rush wants Obama to win in 2012 because he needs something to talk about and enjoys the ratings of talking about how bad Obama has destroyed the country and people like you Whirl feed into his B.S!

We: You really really need to get outside more often and see the world with a different set of glasses......beause I am a social conservative doesn't mean you get to label me with every sterotype you are carrying around... That is your baggage, not mine.

The definition of a "social conservative," according to Wikipedia:
Social Conservatives favor the pro-life position in the abortion controversy; oppose all forms of and wish to ban embryonic stem cell research ; oppose both eugenics (inheritable genetic modification) and human enhancement ( transhumanism) while supporting bioconservatism; [1] support a definition of marriage as being one man and one woman; view the nuclear family model as society's foundational unit; oppose expansion of civil marriage and child adoption rights to couples in same-sex relationships; promote public morality and traditional family values; oppose secularism and/or privatization of religious belief; support the prohibition of drugs, prostitution, premarital sex, non-marital sex and euthanasia; and support the censorship of pornography and what they consider to be obscenity or indecency.
Whirly, I will say the following with a great degree of certainty. If you are a "social conservative" as you claim, you have no business being a willing participant on an adult hobby board. On the other hand, if you are not really a "social conservative" while claiming that you are, than I am going to call it like I see it.
You are a hypocrite!
