Barry definitely did a better job this time around... but it was a shitty debate format, which led to a shitty debate! Personally... I don't believe either of them "won" the shitty debate.
Crowley fucked up and skewed the ending... that is only a fact!

I always keep one TV on CNN.... and another on FOX.... it's always funny as hell, watching each try to tell me what I just heard , MYSELF!!

Romney is right about the price of gas and then Obama wanted things both ways. According to Obama the was almost in recession in January 2009 and that is why the price of gas was low. So the recession happened on Obama's watch according to his words. Now there are people out there talking about a double dip recession so, according to Obama, the price of gas should be pretty low in anticipation. Not so fast Barry. You want it both ways. The price of gas was low because of the recession and high now because of the poor economy. You did cause the closure of several coal plants, you did refuse to renew leases on federal land for oil exploration, and you just chose to lie several times.

When Obama took office there was no oil demand. We were losing 800k jobs a month. The whole world had a demand problem. We could have another worldwide depression and lower the price of gasoline! Is that what you dumbasses want? Second, without the price of gasoline where it it, there would be way less drilling. Had gasoline miraculously stayed that low, we would not be drilling at near the pace we had. The days of one dollar gasoline are over.

Futhermore you have no idea how the business cycle works...the recession came full tilt once Obama took office....that is WTF his words meant. But a idiot or liar like yourself does not understand just how long a business cycle works. Had you, you would not make such idiotic points. This is not a Tea Rally and I am not LovingKayla , that knows no better.

It's interesting that Romney now has a 2-point lead in this forum's poll. To anyone judging simply on the basis of reason and facts, I think he got the better of it last night. But since the simple fact that deflection, spin, and pandering is the real point of these debates, I think Obama probably "won." The key consideration is not how it plays to those in this forum who follow the policy debate. It's how the whole thing is perceived by worried middle class folks concerned about their jobs and their futures. Obama scored with his "47%" shot, since no matter what Romney articulates as his policy proposals, it's easy to paint him as an out-of-touch rich guy who doesn't care about the middle class. This also allows the president to deflect attention from his manifestly bad economic agenda.

It seems to me that the "real" score will be announced in a few days. If the averages move a couple of points in his direction, he clearly will be judged as having "won."

Shortly before he gave the speech that catapulted him to fame at the 2004 Democratic Party convention, Obama told a Chicago Tribune reporter, "I'm LeBron, baby! I can play at this level. I got game!"

But even the great LeBron James needs a supporting cast. Point guards to distribute the ball to him, for instance.

Barack Obama can give a prepared speech with verve and style. But in direct face-to-face conversations, or in a townhall format, he's fairly ordinary. In a prepared speech, his "point guards" are his teleprompters. They were not able to attend last night.

Just about the only person I've ever seen bring "LeBron-style" game to a townhall debate is Bill Clinton. And Barack Obama is no Bill Clinton, either in terms of political skill or fiscal prudence.

All in all, I think most partisan Democrats are mildly happy, since their guy at least showed up and played a poor hand fairly well. And most partisan Republicans are mildly disappointed, since they have a very flawed candidate and his opponent didn't self-destruct like he did in the first debate.

Gratuitous off-topic comment: MissMelissa, that's a damned fine looking avatar!

If you think anybody gives a shit about this issue other than a few partasian hacks and Fox News who is feeding those hacks red meat, the just remember Joe Wilson, Scooter Libby and Bush's subsequent reelection. Same song, different dance.

Now cry to me about how they are different!

Then you have the requisite qualifications for a political career, maybe a congressional run.

However, I doubt that you would want to sign up for taking a huge pay cut. Might slice into the frequency of all those golfing vacations and Tahoe trips!

Neither of them answered the questions to my liking, they typically like all town hall debates spin off onto a list of talking points, and slams on the other. When the hell are we going to have someone just answer the fucking question, nothing more, nothing less. This bullshit debate was nothing more than a mudslinging event, a total waste of everyones time.

James Stockdale Perot's running mate. He answered the questions clearly and succinctly. His answer to the abortion question was priceless.

Anyway, last night's debate. I felt it was a 60% / 40% outcome. Obama never answered a question where Romney did to some extent. I also felt, like others, that the commentator let Obama get by with too much. But the thing that I took the most from the debate is that Obama came off like a tattle tale and a wanna be tough guy all at the same weird time. He kept tattle telling to the moderator, like he would whine to his mama, if Romney took part of Romney's own time to revisit a point - that usually was an Obama lie - from the previous question. I also felt that Obama was physically aggressive towards Romney, and I felt that Romney was not intimidated in the least and simply laughed Obama's aggressiveness off.

Obama only scored points when he was being catty. Romney scored points when he was hitting legitimate points home. As much as Obama tried to derail the debate from his record and the economy, Romney kept the debate firmly on course - the economy, his own successful record as a business owner and a governor and Obama's abysmal record. In short, the tip on the debate wasn't necessarily the content of each candidates comments, but rather that Romney looked like the calm and effective leader and Obama looked like some Raggedy Andy trying to defend himself and his ridiculous record of both failure and nothingness.

You didn't see Romney get testy and cutting Obama off???? Success as a business owner you say- do you call what Romney did at Bain a great model- you are aware of how many people Romney laid off and how many jobs went overseas?
And a lot of women were offended by Romney's: "Binder of Women" comment!!!!

Nothing like having a binder full of women at your beck and call!

Old Mitt hired women when he was paying with government money, not so much when at Bain!

That fact will come back to haunt him in some political ad.

Funny how you saw that! Romney had the floor, and a testy Odumbo TRIED to interrupt Romney. Romney rightly shut Odumbo down and continued with his allotted time.

Good cartoon, I.B. -- especially in light of the fact that although Obama continually reminds us of the mess that he inherited, he hasn't made any serious effort to fix anything. Virtually the entirety of his economic "plan" revolves around raising taxes, but only on those earning more than $250K annually. Only simpletons suffering from severe cases of innumeracy think that would make more than a nickel's worth of difference in the size of the deficit.

Hilariously, someone recently posed the following question in this forum: After Obama is re-elected, what is he going to do about the mess that he inherits from himself?
