Yes, I find it really hard to see my phone in the sun and send all kind of mis-spellings - really annoying.

I have no idea right now. It's an idea I am playing with - not something I have actually tried. I think any arrangement like this would be unique and dependent on specific personalities and chemistry.
Unfortunately, there are not many candidates among my regulars who could actually get away with it - and I am trying not to advertise again locally for a several good reasons.

LOL. That was cute.
I will trade with a lady for an evening of sexual ecstasy. The only question is what are you offering in return? [/QUOTE]

I've bartered twice with reputable photographers who were clients in good standing for a long time....one I even considered a genuine friend and spent platonic time with. Both situations left them with free sessions and me with unuseably bad pics delivered at more than three times the scheduled delivery date. Understandably, neither are still clients (or a friend) at this time.
I will never barter services again, but I would be open to bartering goods. Anyone have need of a twin girl's bedroom set? I need a full or queen set. ;-)

Bartering has been, and always will be in existence.

Why would it matter where the economic system is based? Bartering is either beneficial to the parties involved or not. Putting the word "hobby" in front of it does not change the factors that impact whether or not it is effective and agreeable.
It seems to me there was a Douglas Adams passage that best illustrates this:
“This planet has — or rather had — a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movements of small green pieces of paper, which is odd because on the whole it wasn’t the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy.”

Did you read my prior post to this one? I stated that, personally, bartering has never appealed to *ME* in this hobby. Jeez!

This is really kind of silly. What does it matter if you exchange a product, a service, or a piece of green paper. For instance, take Lauren's point:
Quote:
I'm happy to work with an accountant who offers services to escorts, but I want to pay him for his work with money. I don't want to be asked to provide sexual favours at any point in time when I'm dealing with a professional that offers ANY service.
|
Let's assume that you book for a consult with a CPA. He charges $450 for the service he provides and she counts out nine of these to pay him:
This same CPA then decides to book a session with Lauren later that week. She is multi-hour, so he will need a few more of these to add to the nine Lauren gave him when she paid for her consult. So here is the question. . .
Can he put those nine fifty-dollar bills in the white envelope with the other ones, or should he go to the bank and get different ones so that it does not feel too much like that scourge of the earth, bartering?

I did read it and I was focusing on this part. I should have put it in bold:
"Now, outside of this hobby, yes bartering can be beneficial to both parties involved. A win-win situation for everyone placing such a transaction."

Could you please explain how would that be "bartering"?
She already paid him for his services, and then he's using HIS money that she used to pay him to pay HER in return for her services. Now, you tell me how's that bartering, and, where are you going with this?
It's as if you're imposing something upon me; it doesn't work like that, Mister!

Ok! And, did I object to anyone who wanted to barter his or her services; whether in this hobby or not? I referenced that to something the poster said in regards to outside *this* hobby.
At the end of the day, ANONONE, we all have choices, and we choose to do whatever best fits our needs.
