Obama vs. Perry: Who Would You Vote For?

Didn't want to beat up too much on Ronnie. I actually believed his bullshit the first time around. Of course, we're still feeling the effects of Trickle Down economics (it's trickling down my leg, in fact!)

His second term he was already suffering from Alzheimers and, by many accounts, the White House was on cruise control. I've heard that the last couple of years, he didn't really connect a lot of the time.

I, too, do not revere him as much as most and am surprised he ranked so highly in the poll.

Many look with nostalgia on Reagan because he looked good and had nice hair.

But at the time I remember he was extremely polarizing.

He was a bumbling nincompoop who couldn't thoughtfully answer any question given to him by anyone about anything. His ideological straitjacket brought us the first skyrocketing deficits, abandonment of anti-trust and securities enforcement, wasteful military spending, genocidal wars in central America and Afghanistan, and bringing the world to the brink of nuclear war with the Russians over nothing at all.

He was the one who charted the suicidal course we're all now living with.

Today he's often cited with having "broken the back of the Soviets," however the Soviet party in Russia was actually given new life by his provocative actions. It was his belligerance which gave the hardliners in the Kremlin the credibility they needed for their last stretch before Gorbachov's generation finally came on board.

I too am weary of the bowing at the throne of Reagan, who wasn't a bad president but certainly not a good one. Economy was doing well and they sold us on fear that it was heading for major deficits, got elected, and then made that happen. making deals to hold onto the Hostages in Iran to ensure his election as part of the Contra-crap was a special touch of douchebaggery.

we vote every 4 years for basically, hopefully, a different flavor of crook. Until they throw the lobbiests out of Politics, which they never will Corporations will pay less taxes than I do, and no matter who's president, the spin wagon of the media will say xyz's a fucktard.

Term Limits anyone? career politicians, not a guy with a 4 yr or 8 yr career span, and sucking at the tit of lobbiests are whats at the root of all that's fucked up in this country. IMHO of course.

Obama has been the most anti-business president I believe has ever occupied the White House....that is unless you are a big campaign donor or fundraiser of his. Obamacare and the Frank/Dodd bill are absolutely crippling to our economy along with the odds of further tax increases in addition to the expiration of the Bush tax cuts (which I've calculated out to being the equivalent of an 8% cut in my annual middle class income once this tax cut expires).

This past weekend, Obama said "Americans are lazy" in regard to job creation (bringing new business investment into the USA). This is the same as lighting a building on fire and claiming the fire department is taking too long to put out the flames. Obama either has a fundamental lack of understanding basic economic concepts or is purposely trying to destroy our economy. The later is what I believe to be the case.

Regarding OP's question, neither would be a win in the long term.

If this is true (which it is clearly not), how has Obama managed to create more jobs in three years than Bush did in eight? Maybe you'll also care to explain how we've managed to lose 9 million domestic jobs since the Bush tax cuts were impemented back in 2001.

I'd absolutely LOVE to hear you explain how the Frank/Dodd bill (better known as the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act) is "crippling our economy". Why don't you provide us some statistics on exactly what you think this bill has "crippled" and how?
