Ben Affleck is the new Batman.

Discuss.

No different outrage then when Heath Ledger was named Joker...and that was the best performance I've ever seen...

True enough. But didn't we see Ben as daredevil? I could be wrong, but if that's him, I'm not sure if I want to suffer through another flat vigilante performance.

OTOH, he perhaps learned from that performance and will take it to a new level this time. Would you prefer an unknown quantity that might fall flat too?

Besides, there are so many things that go into acting and making it a good performance in addition to the actor and the acting such as the director, the cinematographer, the script, the rest of the cast and of course, the editing.

He turned in great performances in Good Will Hunting, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Hollywood Land and Extract. I suspect he will want to return to that form here and hope he does (because there is no chance we will cause a change).

Read this - http://theweek.com/article/index/248...a-great-batman

The choice parts are: "As far as donning the actual cape and cowl goes, I'm going to say something potentially blasphemous here: It's not all that hard to play Batman."

and, "To my mind, the mark of a good Batman performance is how well the actor plays Bruce Wayne. Michael Keaton's was eccentric; Val Kilmer's was stoic; George Clooney's was unflappably charming (and infinitely more convincing than his Batman). But Ben Affleck has delivered performances that prove he can capture a key aspect of Bruce Wayne's character: Cockiness. When he's not fighting crime on the streets of Gotham, Bruce Wayne is a handsome, charming, billionaire playboy who covers his tracks by acting like an obnoxious egomaniac. Is that really a part you think Ben Affleck is incapable of playing?"

I agree with this. I think he will make a decent Bruce. They will definitely need to play up the charming, debonair side as a counterpoint to Clark, since Caville played him very um...I guess I will go with stoic.

I would like to see them do the storyline from the beginning of the 2003 Superman/Batman with Darkseid/Supergirl. Now THAT is a hard role to cast.....

Yeah, I think Affleck will be a fine asshole Bruce Wayne, but man I can't get over him as Daredevil.

As long as he doesn't try and do the Bale Batman voice...

Odd that you mention Dungeon Crawl Classics. We picked some up at GenCon for a friend.

Supposedly, they're pretty good, but don't get too attached to your characters. Old school 3d6 down the line stats, no rearranging, etc.

I did like how the beginning of the series was described to me though - apparently, you each make 3 characters and are essentially 0th level townsfolk forming a mob to take down a monster that's been attacking the town.

The survivors of the first adventure get to level 1 and get to actually become classed adventurers

Yeah I read that JBravo 123, Start at level 0 easy to get killed. Tunnels and Trolls is like that. Can't get to attached to your character, easy to get killed off.
Anyway I was curious about it, so I ordered a copy from their website. Tried to find it locally, but no luck. Funny thing was everyone I talked to about it was interested and wanted to learn more about the system.

Yeah, but since you get like 3 characters starting out, I think it's not as bad (as long as you don't get too attached to a favorite, heh). Plus the whole winnowing of the townsfolk thing is pretty neat, imo.

a look at the Ant-Man suit for the upcoming movie. Still no idea who's playing Ant-Man, though. Anybody?
