My unanswered question is “ do you as a veteran believe your leader should declare victory for the United States for his gutless betrayal of the Kurds?”
He should be impeached for that shit stain alone.

Betray Turkey?
Sorry short stack. Ignorant to the end.
We had troops where Turkey was going to attack. Would Turkey have attacked there with their NATO allies (US) occupying that area?
Of course not. Your Jim Jones pulled the US troops out to allow Turkey an attack route.
From the WaPo.
Oct. 12, 2019 at 10:49 a.m. CDT
"The Syrian Democratic Forces, the Kurdish-led coalition of troops that has been backed by U.S. forces, has been guarding some 20 small prisons that hold 10,000 people accused of being members of the Islamic State. The Kurds also control and operate several camps that house 70,000 women and children accused of being family members of Islamic State fighters.
Now the Kurds say they may have to pull guards from these facilities to fight off Turkish troops crossing the border. If this were to happen, the United States has said it won’t intervene.
On Friday, SDF forces said several Syrian Islamic State prisoners escaped from a detention facility in Qamishli, in northeastern Syria, after Turkish forces bombed it. Kurdish forces are caught between protecting the prisons and camps and staving off Turkish soldiers at the border. Controlling prisoners has also become one of their last bargaining chips for trying to influence what they see as an increasingly fickle United States."
Now that the Kurds have to defend themselves what about the prisons? If they escape, who will ISIS fuck with?
Stupid fucking douche-bags.

execute them. are they ISIS or not? if they are ISIS execute them. that's what ISIS does, so execute them. ISIS doesn't hold trials so why should the Kurds? because they are nice guys? well they should stop being nice guys. better still dump these prisoners on the UN and let the UN hold them. oh but the UN doesn't want shit to do with it! funny that yeah? why aren't UN troops from other nations in that region? the UN doesn't want shit to do with it!
i can just imagine the look on your face while you read this post. TWK said "execute them!" yeah that's what i said. ISIS doesn't do fair, ISIS doesn't do trials, ISIS doesn't negotiate. ISIS are terrorists. so treat them like terrorists and execute them. or release them. what are the Kurds doing holding them if they can't or won't try them? a UN resolution? bahhaa

Would Turkey have still crossed the border? I don't know and you certainly don't either.
But in your bullshit war monger scenario, had Turkey still crossed the border, you are either putting US troops in a bind in "choosing" between supporting the Kurds or the Turks. Or you are relegating them to becoming prison and camp guards while the Kurds go off and fight.
The only smart statement in the whole thing you posted was from the WAPO article that said.

In the past that would have been music to a lefty's ear. Now they are the war mongers who believe we should be the world's police force again. All to find a reason to attack Trump. It's sad watching the left self destruct.

This should be a dilemma for Libertarians and three-quarters Libertarians like WTF and me. You don't want the USA involved in unnecessary foreign wars, and you don't want to spend money foolishly on military adventures. The Turks, our NATO ally, fought side by side with us in Korea, and housed our nuclear weapons during the cold war. The Kurds fought side by side with us in Iraq. They did the brunt of the fighting in Syria, with casualties in the tens of the thousands, while we only suffered 12 fatalities, according to what General Mattis said this morning.
Trump didn't try hard enough. Apparently he went off script and impulsively decided to fold to Erdogan during a conversation a few days ago. We probably could have pushed the Kurds and the Turks to come to an accommodation that wouldn't require bloodshed, perhaps forcing the Kurdish soldiers to move out of the corridor Turkey wants along the border.
I've been thinking about analogies, of what this will look like to history if the Kurds die fighting to the last man. Masada and the Alamo come to mind. But the Hebrews and the Texans weren't betrayed by their allies. Maybe the movie Platoon. Sargent Elias was killed by North Vietnamese soldiers, but it was because Barnes betrayed him. We betrayed the Kurds. Trump's going to go down on the wrong side of history in this.

what side of history would Trump be on if he'd forced a military confrontation with Turkey?
