Given all the different Christian sects, is it really so hard to believe that even within the Christian community, there are groups of people that believe different things across the spectrum?

There seem to be some who call themselves Christian who seem to have never read any of the gospels, or the sermon on the mount, or studied any of the epistles.

They cherry pick a few verses and make it into a religion.

As much as I love to poke fun at Christians, I don't think that's a problem particular to them.

I think you'll find people across the board regardless of religion / race / nationality / political leanings that will pick and choose what they want to believe (and I'm not claiming that I am excempt from this either!).

I think it's more of a human problem than anything else.

It really is wide spectrum. There are actually people who think Obama is a Christian. Here are the words of James Cone. Jeremiah Wright say's Cone's teachings form the foundation of his black liberation ministry.
