I certainly could ask Gina to change it, and assume that all of my old info (profile, favorites, excluded, tracking, OK's, etc.) would carry over to the new number, but wonder whether it would introduce other complications.
We change the last four digits on client ids all the time, it's the only part that we will change any time at the client's request.

When this is done, everything changes to the new client id. A provider who gave you an Okay on your old client id will now see your new client id. The only thing is that anyone trying to look you up by using your old client id will be unable to do so.

Always,
Gina

I had my four digits changed a while back, since I had joined before the requirement was in place. Easy to do and did it on the P411 site by clicking the Live Help box.
P411 customer service is excellent and Gina is too.

I use a combination of P411 and ECCIE. If they don't match to my comfort level, I pass. Also, every provider I have contacted thru P411 has responded. I would not boycott P411.

I trust Gina and P411 more than ECCIE?
I have been hobbing a long time and never had a problem with any the providers on P411.
That is why I only see P411 providers.
What he said!

+1 on that entire post...Semper Fi

The last couple of providers I've seen haven't checked my profile, only checked the # of "ok's" I had

I think Gina should get a Hobby Lifetime Achievement Award...I love P411! It's especially good if you travel a lot.

If a Provider is not a P411 Member, she will NEVER see me. I have noticed several Providers that try to use their Girlfriends or Roommates P411 ID until they get their own established. (Not Cool) Ya'll would not like it if Hobbyists try to do that. Ladies, take the time to get your own ID.

"Boycott P411" is a stupid idea. Without P411, or something equivalent, I would quit hobbying. Maintaining references without the P411 OK system is just too much of a pain in the ass.

I would not have been able to meet either of my two current favorite providers without using P411.

Not only is it not cool.. it is against the rules Gina has set out... Report them.

Everyone seems stuck on the "boycott" part... I see I should have worded it differently. I only chose that because I have read on more than one occasion guys saying that they would NOT use P411 if ladies started checking ID's...

My main point of this- was to get opinions on how far some would go to use this tool correctly and to it's potential. I feel it is VERY important for ladies not only to actually READ potential clients' profile on the system, it is EXTREMELY important for them to check the OKs and IDs and make sure who they were contacted by IS the same person at the door.

Many guys - didn't even know that checking IDs was part of the system. I am sure a lot of the new ladies still don't.

I love P411... I can't imagine being in this life without it. *opens up umbrella*

I had a Houston provider recently request that I forward to her my P411 number so that she could screen me. I went to the P 411website to send her a request for appt directly through the site but could not find her listed. I PM'd her back and asked if she was using another name and if so, what was it. She then told me that she had access to P411 but was not a recognized provider on the P411 website. She then requested my P411 id so that she could have her friend properly screen me. Truth of the matter is, I probably should have reported her to Gina but instead I let her know in no uncertain terms that if she was not a P411 provider, that I would not see her under any conditions. You could tell by her immature reaction that she was pissed! So be it!

Now for the rest of the storyl She sent me another PM a couple of weeks later saying that she was now registered under P411 and suggested I go to their website and submit my screening information directly to her so she could finally complete the screening process. I sent her back an email and informed her that she should look elsewhere for a guy who did not mind dealing with immature, drama filled providers!

End of story!

Seriously? That seems like the least important part of screening to me.

What kind of things can go wrong?

1) He might have "bogus" OK's -- so it's helpful to check the profile to see exactly who those X number of OK's are from. Are they well-known reputable ladies with similar screening standards? How old are the OK's? Consider contacting a few.

2) The prospective client might have "borrowed" someone else's P411 code (if the owner is careless or ladies he shared it with during screening are unscrupulous) -- so ask that he send an appointment request through P411 itself. That shows that the prospective client not only knows the code but also the password. Also, consider asking him to email you from the email address shown in his P411 profile. That will show he knows the email password.

3) Some info in the profile, on which you might (partly) rely, is a lie -- so verify it when following up with those ladies who gave him an OK. One particular thing that comes to mind is his handle on a P4P board. So, whether his profile on P411 says he's "Chevalier" or he mentions that in an email or appointment request, log onto ECCIE and send a PM to confirm that XXX-XX-X-XXXX on P411 = "Chevalier" on ECCIE. Now you know that he didn't just "borrow" a someone else's handle. (In all the time I've been on P411, only one lady has done this. Kudos to her.)

4) He only asks for OK's from ladies he treats well, and doesn't volunteer negative information -- so check various boards and talk to ladies he's reviewed but didn't get an OK from. (OK, I deleted 40+ of my OK's so it may take awhile.) Check his online posts, check for alerts, ask around in the Powder Room or whatever you call it.

5) The guy you screened is not the guy who shows up. But how exactly does that happen?

A) You've been communicating with Y all along, as he has X's P411 code, P411 password, and ECCIE password. OK, seems very unlikely, but it could happen.

B) You have indeed been communicating with X but he is conspiring with Y and Y shows up.

Possible scenarios, I guess, but much less likely than # 1 - 4. More importantly, someone who falls under # 5 has few if any scruples. And you haven't found that out until you're face to face with him. (Consider demanding to meet in a public place first to check the ids, although few ladies seem to have added that qualification. And: 1) not all clients will be willing to do that; and 2) by then he'll know what you look like and may be able to follow you when you leave.)

---------

Check the I'd and code when you meet? If it makes you feel better, sure. I don't see many new ladies but if I ever decide to, I'll change it to agree with identification I carry. Any lady is entitled to, and should, do whatever she feels necessary for her safety. And it's not so burdensome that I would refuse to see a lady who insisted on it.

But don't exaggerate the importance of one precaution that ineffectively guards against a very remote danger. It's not a problem in and of itself, but may distract you from other more important precautions -- dangers that are more likely and also easier to guard against. All this focus on verifying the P411 code may give inexperienced ladies a false sense of security.

My perpsective. YOMV

You have got to be kidding me right?

Jump on that as ALL that I have ever said about screening ...ever... *sigh*

Simply *looking* at the OKs does nothing. I have said it MANY times to research the vouch JUST as much as the guy you are about to see. Don't act like I haven't. It has been said LEFT AND RIGHT about getting the P411 message THROUGH the system. Verifying the emails within and making sure everything matches up. C'mon.. gimme a break here.. We all know that even doing everything and more in 1-4... 5 can STILL happen. Why does it seem you are making the FINAL step in using P411 properly a non issue? I never meant for it to come across as JUST checking the ok and the ID.. if THAT is all you have taken from this then wtf am I doing wrong?

Using P411 MEANS using it properly. Not just getting the request and saying "ok come by"... Not just emailing back and forth... but everything, including checking IDs... Just like insects - if there is even ONE hole in the barrier they destroy the house.

I realize that there is some small amount of value to the specific precaution you made the primary emphasis of this thread.

But it still strikes me as suggesting that the neighbor who wants to sell her house consider painting the garage door, when she still hasn't heeded your earlier advice to fix the large cracks in the foundation, the leaks in the roof, and the broken windows. Painting the garage door will indeed help but focusing on it and suggesting it's extremely important, before all the other problems are addressed, just strikes me as bizarre.

But don't worry about the opinion of a cranky curmudgeon like me. No one else does.
