It is composed of the 535 Congress members and their staffs. Most don't really give a shit about you or me, as long as they are "taken care off" by their "Johns". Lobbyists spent over $9 billion in 2009 to get the government they want. You could write an encyclopedia on who paid who. We all have one vote to cast and I'm not sure its worth a bucket of spit anymore. The most powerful man in the state of Texas is a guy named Bob Perry (no relation to Rick) of Houston. He has donated over $22 million to Texas candidates since the year 2000. He owns members of the state legislature. He can mold a person with his wallet.
So, if you are a cheerleader of either party, you are nothing more than a shill. My position is to quit worrying about politics and prepare myself to adapt as best as I can to something completely out of my control - our governement and the financiers who control them.
Also, the Man of the Decade in my opinion, is Osama Bin Laden. He has outsmarted the world's most powerful military, steeped with the most sophisticated technology, has managed to elude death or capture, and outlasted a 2 term President and a half term of another. As much as we might hate him, I'll say this for him: he has proven to be more than a worthy opponent. As despicable as his tactics are, he has managed to "play" the US as well as anyone in history. He understands us much better than we understood him. He knew our weaknesses and exploited them. He has pushed us into the longest war in our history.
One other thing. We have 2 wars going and an economy that is running like a corvair on 2 cylinders. True patriots put differences aside and work together. Americans are more obsessed with what they might lose, than what they should be happy to give and that is called sacrifice- Americans sacrificed in WWII. Sacrifice for Americans today might consist of buying a cheaper bottle of wine. Political differences have over-run any desire to work on "fixing" our problems. In a nutshell, we won't sacrifice because we haven't suffered enough pain yet. Thing have to get worse for us to wake us up. I'm tired of hearing people complain about their health care or their taxes, etc. Fucking do someting positive to change the way your life is run instead of waiting for change from those who really don't give a shit about you anyway.

This has to be one of the best post I have ever read on this forum. Kudos to you my friend.
Intelligence is a rare commodity in this country and it's always refreshing to know there are still Americans with the capability to form an original thought.
