Allow me to summarize:
1. You can take her to small claims court, either with or without a lawyer.
2. Doing so will cost you additional funds and time, although you're spending considerable time on this thread so maybe that doesn't matter to you.
3. You may well get a default judgment against her. If that is your goal, go for it.
4. You are unlikely to ever recover a single dollar from her, because a small claims judgment is almost impossible to enforce. Going to court will simply increase your loss.
5. The best course to cut your losses is to put it behind you.
6. In the OP you said she was an "associate". Let us hope that you have had the good sense to end that association.

That's all I've got. I'm not sure what else needs to be discussed.

Thanks for the info and advice I am still deciding on my next course of action and this "associate" is no more. Happy Hobbying Sir!!!
