Now I get it. We change the eligibility age to 70 now, and when we get to age 69, we change eligibility age to 75, and when we get to 74, we change the eligibility age to 80, and so on...

Uhhh, no insurance does not cover intentional acts (like the CC) or gross negligence.

Without debating what exactly insurance covers or doesn't, that is my point exactly: the popular view is that either "insurance covers it" or "some big company can afford it." In either case the costs are ultimately passed on to us as consumers.

The interesting aspect of the current PR blitz by the White House flaxs is their mantra that the debt ceiling must be raised !
But they won't tell us how much they want it raised !
Like the prevous CRs they should raise the debt ceiling in small increments; extracting REAL cuts along with constitutinal limits on spending.
The Republicans have alot of leverage I hope they use it wisely. Otherwise they will lose the Tea Party.

VERY true Marshall. I called my Congressman (Republican) and was told they had the "Democrats running around scared and not knowing what to do" by caving in on the 2011 budget deal. What a load of crap!! They cut the variance of the 2010 budget vs. 2010 outlays to get the $38 billion in spending cuts. Truth is, they didn't cut any actual spending.

There were no cuts; the 2011 budget is higher than 2010 spending. We've been conned again by the politicans.

The GOP don't give a fuc about the Tea Party!
I don't blame them. Those batshit fuc'ers want to cut government spending without touching Medicare and SS.
It don't get much dumber than that!

We could start lowering life expediency.
Which do you prefer?
We can not afford the current system. It was not set up with people living as long as they do. Look the good thing is we live longer, the bad thing is the government does not have the money to be able to pay you for that advancement in science.
PJ is correct on this issue as much as it pains me to say.

We have the death panels now so don't worry too much about it.
Yesterday it was reported that OPEC is cutting oil production because of a world glut. Today it was reported that locally we have 7.5 % less gasoline than a year ago so gas prices are going up quite a bit more over the next week.

Where do you get this idea from. That is not the case at all. We want to cut everything. Nothing is sacred.
I'm a Tea Party guy and I just recommended cutting it. So is Ryan, he did too.

Father time or the Death Panel. Either way, you die in the end.

Everybody has a death panel at some point.
It is called running out of money.
Sooner people learn that there will be less blaming and more doing.

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/04/poll-70-of-tea-partiers-oppose-cuts-to-medicare-medicaid.php
In a McClatchy-Marist poll released this week, 70% of registered voters who identify with the Tea Party opposed making cuts to either Medicare or Medicaid -- the government-run health programs for the elderly and the poor -- to help reduce the nation's deficit. Meanwhile, only 28% of tea partiers said they'd be willing to cut spending on those two programs.
