Voice of reason
[QUOTE=LilMynx69;1054760343]My skin is thicker than that, and while I know that you say things in a moment of passion...I've tried to suggest before that your arguments are better when you don't make them personal.
I think even you can admit that it's quite laughable that I am going hold onto any belief without critical examination. Hell, I can't decide what's for lunch without critical examination.
So, of course, I'm going to take offense when you suggest my thought or beliefs that I've spent DECADES developing are, in anyway associated with how men act on ECCIE.
BUT, I know that was not your intent. But, I did want to bring it to your attention. Thank ÿou for the prompt apology; it's accepted and appreciated.
Carry on!

Again you are the voice of legal knowledge and reason.
Have a Happy New Year.

"Whore" is often used in a broader sense: sex for something of value. Sleeping with the boss for a promotion, the "other woman" who knows there is no wedding ring but lots of gifts and trips. Those would not accurately be prostitutes, but many people would see them as whores.
|
Absolutely they would be seen as such, and thereby making the point that both of us have made that whore has a hard edge and broader social meaning than prostitute which is the actual term for someone who accepts money for sex.

And like you, I think that my argument is sound. I do not believe I’ve made this personal. Trust me. These threads in the Houston Coed and on the national forums aren’t personal. I’ve not taken them as such nor have I made them such towards anyone else. When I make something personal, it’s evident even to ants – on other continents.
Though I do believe – not you – it has been made quote personal towards me and women in general. What you are seeing me is me defending myself and more importantly the core of the argument. If I don’t the entire argument will be lost to the static and personal attacks upon me and women, including whores, in general.

I don’t think anywhere have I indicated that I think you aren’t a critical thinker and a not only a good business woman but a fabulous promoter of yourself and your image. I also think I’ve made it clear I think you are a leader amongst the ECCIE community.

As have I. I never said anyone’s ideas are based on the behavior of men on ECCIE. I said the impact on women’s lives particularly and with regard to social conditioning and social shunning because of sexual behaviors of women is directly influenced by how women compete for male attention, social position and resources for themselves and their offspring. It has changed to some degree since the Women’s Movement and the Sexual Revolution, but we’ve got a long, long way to go.

As do I, but we have to start with females. Trust me, men will go kicking and fucking screaming. Look at sex education, birth control and the dreaded A word. Historically, the only way women made it into the work place to jobs other than maids and secretaries was because of WWII, and then later once they were displaced by returning veterans, was by the sheer force and soon thereafter women were afforded a modicum of protection by the Employment Act. Personally I think even LBJ’s Herculean efforts would have been in vein in getting the Employment, Civil Rights and the Voter’s Rights Acts passed were it not for the intense social upheaval of the late 60’s. We’re lucky we aren’t still fighting those toe hold battles for all three basic civil liberties since we are in an uphill struggle to make at all three an actual reality still.

Winner, winner, Hooker dinner.
Let me add, that in the real world, if a hooker gets offended by the word whore, on a whore board, she should look into another profession. Like licking my ass clean with her tongue for ten dollars an hour. How many whores you know will take that job?
This is like a bunch of white folk arguing that black folk should be offended when they call each other the 'n' word.
God Damn , this is like in the first chapter of Hooking 101. "There is no crying in Hookerville about being called a whore!"

Done.. and done. Notice that none of the naysayers who replied after bothered doing this... because they already know the formal definition, and what it would do to their argument. btw, I did Model UN in high school all 4 years... and we went to the national semifinals. Do you know how hard it is to get on the team that goes to Nationals as a freshman? This is me going easy on ya.
the thing that makes the word whore offensive in society is because of the act that whores do.. sex for money. We sleep with other people's boyfriends, husbands, dads, uncles, grandfathers, and sons.. for money. With no scruples other than them being able to pay, them not being the police, or bat shit crazy. Even the latter two are up for grabs sometimes. Go figure.
That is why the word is offensive; straight laced women, wives, girlfriend, and their families loathe us. Preachers preach against us but secretly love us (that's a story for later). It's not the word, it's like the word "shyster" for lawyer... what lawyer likes to be called that? Almost the same; it has a negative connotation and they whore and sell themselves for that money too. Most don't care if you are guilty or innocent, right or wrong, their job is to keep you out of shit.
Would you or that other whore be less offended if I referred to her as "Suck dick for cash prostitute"?.. it would be more factual.. and I can make that happen.

Again, the multiquotes are a nightmare on my iPhone...Olivia, I'm not going to dwell on it. I'm not arguing, I'm merely stating (on this one point) why I'm right.
You said:

Do you KNOW what the recognized meaning of "drinking the KoolAid" is?
"Drinking the Kool-Aid" is a metaphor commonly used in the United States that refers to a person or group holding an unquestioned belief, argument, or philosophy without critical examination. It could also refer to knowingly going along with a doomed or dangerous idea because of peer pressure. ...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drinking_the_Kool-Aid
Not the best source, but easily accessible, if you have a good primary source, I'll defer to it.
Maybe you didn't really understand the CONNOTATION of the phrase and just how offensive it could be in some circles...which is sort of funny in light of this thread.
But I said, it's all good. I don't think you intended it an insult, but rather you said it without thinking and without knowing that it I would take it as an insult. Accidents happen to all of us.
Carry on...

Thank you for doing the work for me, LD. This is my point. Technically, I fit into the categories of whore and courtesan. Though, COURTESAN is misused here more than WHORE so I don't think I'd be inclined to use that. Not here at least.
I don't however fit into prostitute or call girl.
Stay tuned for my COURTESAN thread! That's when I'll become the most hated poster on the board...so I will save that until I'm ready to leave.
xoxo,
LMx

shhhh, Ol Ho's admitted personal favorite synonym that she prefers to whore is HARLOT, which Marriam Webster puts it's archaic definitions as:
Middle English, rogue, buffoon, female prostitute, from Anglo-French herlot beggar, vagabond
isn't it ironic, don't ya think?
another irony:
note that the definition and synonyms for prostitute does not include whore, but does include this W word: warp.
we all make justifications for what we want to do to make it 'feel' right.
Unfortunately reality and your 'feelings' are not always aligned.
Freud kept it real.
In psychology and logic, rationalization (also known as making excuses) is a defense mechanism in which perceived controversial behaviors or feelings are logically justified and explained in a rational or logical manner in order to avoid any true explanation, and are made consciously tolerable – or even admirable and superior – by plausible means.
that's one of the reasons why I say this whore is delusional.
