A lesson regarding the Kuwait matter is the lack of clarity with respect to the consequences if Saddam attacked Kuwait. It's basically the same thing. Except this time the "muzzle" is pointed in our direction.
Too much "weight" has been placed on a "first strike" strategy and unfortunately launching a "retaliation" strike in response to a NK first strike on U.S. soil is unacceptably too late. IMO the only folks advocating a "retaliation" strike learned their "consequences" on a Nintendo game of "war"! It's nice to "have the moral high ground" if there's any "high ground" left.
As fall and winter approach with the prevailing Northers coming out of Western Canada the wind currents will spread the radioactive material over 2/3 of the United States and 85-90% of the agricultural lands that support this Nation, even if ultimately there will be significant "healthy" survivors to continue feeding off the available crops ... and water resources will be contaminated .... Most of the U.S. west of the Mississippi will be a wasteland and uninhabitable.
These discussion are nice academic exercises, but there won't be any after "event" discussions about it. One day a bunch of folks woke up in Japan and thought what a great day it was going to be, and they had no idea that it would end as it did.
It's not discussed or documented, but the Japanese scientists dismissed the ability of the U.S. to deliver such a weapon to their shores .... and they were given an opportunity to see the explosion of a test device. They reported it was too big to carry to Japan. Their decision-making was obviously flawed.
The song says: You gotta know when to play them and when to hold them. Our Government has an acceptable level of loss of human life in the event of a nuclear strike. Our government has prepared itself for a post-strike rebirth of this country. Look it up. It's been developing for 50-60 years. It's not just on paper. It's there.
So, that's how you want to make America Great Again?
Start over?
