In the past, while living in Phoenix, the norm was to charge for the extra time. However, if a gent and I are cool with each other, I have no problem - IF I have the extra time, going out for a bite. The only time it gets tricky is when gents take that as a sign that they might be able to become more than just my friend. Um... no.... LOL
There are some places here in town (but no so much in other cities) that I refuse to go to dinner with for personal reasons. I have no desire to run into people in my personal life and therefore, when a gent suggests dinner (whether it is preplanned, or like last night on the fly), I will nix any suggestion that may involve me running into certain folks in my life.
Groovy Thursday to yall!

When I travel, I often will offer to take a girl I've just seen BCD to dinner or drinks afterward. I'm going anyway, so if they want a free dinner and a few drinks, they are free to join me. But no chance in hell I'm paying them for it as I'm already going to buy them dinner and drinks! I can find others that will be glad to go to a nice dinner for free.
I will say that some of the girls I've become closest too over the years were mostly because of the talks we had at dinner after playing. More time to get to know them as a person. Now, if our BCD time wasn't that great of if they don't look like they could pull off a nice dinner without being an ass...or getting too drunk...then I don't offer. If I offer and they don't want to join me, or can't for personal reasons, no offense taken.

I think it is easier to get them to go out with you once they know you and feel safe. I've had great times with one or two on this board going out for meals, etc. without ever getting to dessert. But I wouldn't expect that if they had never seen me. In fact, I never expect that from a provider, but am pleased when it happens.

What COG Just Said
It is easier to get them to go out with you when you just got your Social Security check and are out of Viagra. I have had company with one or two people on this board who have shared a Meals on Wheels with me but I kept the pudding cup so they nor I got the other dessert. I never expect any company but I am grateful when they take my ATM card and run errands for me that other wise they would not do.

Interesting topic
Talk about timing - I am in KC Wednesday and Thursday this week and am actually seting up a multi-hour date. This thread is the first time I have ever heard a provider mention they do not like them. I have been doing them for years (I tend to travel a fair amount and generally have several evenings to kill so they work great for me). Some dates have been better than others but all have worked out for both of us. I also invariably end up seeing the same girl when I end up back in whatever city she is from.
Totally understand why a UTR may want to be discrete and limit their time to a quit bar or share a bottle of wine in the room. Absent a SO that doesn't know what is going, it has not posed issues for either of us.
Finally, being from an area that uses a different forum for its vouches - I forgot what a pain getting references can be.

I've been on several trips and this is pretty common. Business trips are the best time for my local boys to get away together, and it works great!
While I love all my dates, dinner dates are probably my favorite type, especially for first dates. A close runner up would be for a gent in need of extreme discretion and either a bottle of wine or room service. But there is something rather nice about meeting a new friend at the restaurant and getting to know one another over dinner and/or drinks before heading to another for time spent privately. To me it's akin to a (good) blind date. Through the nervousness of meeting someone new you know enough about one another to know you'll probably have a fantastic time, but the reality can easily exceed expectation. Plus, there is something to be said about the build up that happens in the time spent in public. By the time you get alone, I found that clothing tends to be ripped off fairly quickly...
But I realize that some men aren't interested in public dates for discretionary (or other) reasons. I know that because I am a bit younger I have had some gents worry that being seen together will raise red flags. In public I tend to dress business casual and act conservatively and have never had any problems.

I find these work well for me as they really give a break the Ice period to get that out in the open! Meeting in a public place first seems to be safer as both parties can assess the other better! Whether an in or outcall. I always find them enjoyable but that's just me
Another question is cost ? Should it be the normal hour fee? A reduced rate? Or no charge based on prelude to the grand event?

I love to meet up and break the ice. Make small talk and get to know someone. I never charge for dinner when you are booking a date with me.
Then it is back to my place for some built up fun.

It really depends on my mood. Seafood, BBQ, Ethiopian, and steak are probably my favorite. I haven't met a type of food I don't love, although I tend to avoid eating sushi or Chinese in front of other people because, while I love the food, I am horrifyingly bad with chop sticks. But as long as the dish doesn't have peas in it, I will probably love it.
