It isn't that uncommon for people to be much more outspoken in online forums. They can be an outlet for people to vent on issues they don't get the chance to talk about in r/l or are too shy to talk about. It might not be an intentional act of creating a persona, it's just they express themselves differently.
I haven't had many chances to meet people in r/l that I knew before online, so I'm far from an expert on the subject. I met Naomi about 5 months before I knew about this board so I already had a strong impression of her before I saw her posting style. She is definitely more outspoken on here than in r/l, but then again, so am I. I met a couple of other people from other online venues in r/l and it was the same thing. One was extremely shy in person and was a wild child online. The other was exactly the same as they were online.

I think Iam pretty close for the most part. I am creative and even a bit eccentric. I've never really been into the drug scene so thats the only real difference.

Sixx, from talking to you on the phone I can agree ha ha. I think we are both a little nutty, but REAL.

As are you my dear! I was saying that in fun. I wasn't trying to degrade myself or anyone else. I'm just saying in this particular forum it's about the business and sex. In the 'real world' we certainly have to change our perspectives a little.

if you admit you are a liar on here
then why do you take such offense when someone has something negative to say about your bitchy persona as its not you or the way you think anyways. does not really make sense. also if you say its all make believe why would we put any credence it what you answer here.

Do you see how you totally contradicted yourself? It doesn't matter if it's being nice or being a bitch - it's a still ALL fake persona. No offense and I don't know you/don't have a reason to single you out but I'm using what you said as an example. It's all fake. I, for one, have to be someone else to do what I do as a provider. Not that I don't love my job but it's easier to do so. Here on eccie, totally different from who I am BCD with my clients AND most definitely different from who I am when I'm home with my family. That girl wouldn't be here.
I believe that those that don't create some sort of persona separate from their true selves come out BAT SHIT crazy!

I think that it can be hard to tell tone and personalities simply by reading posts. I have been torn a new one for simply trying to be funny at times. Nothing like a drama monger to put a damper on my normally laid back and somewhat witty personality.....LOL
Communication skills, an actual persona, and the whole anonymity of being behind a screen, where one does not have to look another in the eye when making statements of any nature, does seem to have an adverse affect, imo, on how some would behave here, as opposed to their actual behavior and shared thoughts while in the presence of others. I have met some folks and was totally shocked that they would appear so meek and mild in person, but have a knack for making some of the most outrageous and unkind statements when they get behind a computer screen. I have also met some individuals who were exactly as I imagined they would be or better. :-)
So, I guess, at least for me, it's a toss up. If you behave in at least a rational manner on the board and don't come across as an actual woman hater or man hater, then we are good to go either on or off the board.
I enjoy posting in forums, but there are many aspects of doing so that I have let affect me in a negative manner. I hate it when that happens! For the most part, this is a form of "cheap entertainment" for me. Ya'll make me laugh, some have brought a tear or two to my eye, and then there are those we all wish would simply fall off the face of the earth. LOL Unfortunately, I'm sure I have fallen into the latter part of that statement a time or two, but hopefully, I've made at least one or two of ya smile, giggle, or even laugh!

What you see on here is basically how I am in BCD. Fun and flirtatious in both worlds. I think the only slight difference is that in public.. im not as "outgoing" There is a time and place for everything and in the public eye I am less flirtatious and more of the mommy/business type.

I am not good at keeping up any kind of persona for a period of time. Sooner or later I think we all drift back into who we are as evidence by the way we talk (write), the kinds of things that interest us, the things that make us angry or happy. In light of all of that, it is just easier to be myself here, even if it is a private, confidential self that is not shared with any friends or acquaintances outside of the hobby.
