But he hasn’t suggested anybody inject bleach; or suggested postponing an election based on a epidemic he called “a hoax”. Both of those are pretty good evidence if last of mental faculties.

Well, he can certainly prove his mental fitness if he can hold up against Trump in three 90 minute debates.

I think the truth is he is OK but not super sharp now, maybe lost a step but he has been making gaffes for thirty years. However, since so many internet sites post the "ten things to look out for early signs of dementia" a bunch of tapes of Biden looking confused are being emphasized and if Biden is OK, he can use the debates to prove it. It is similar to taking the stand in your own defense and can be unnerving and the Biden people are understandably concerned.

They are making his reflexes worse by not letting him face more hostile press. Trump has an advantage in this area that he needs to exploit desperately to have a small shot at victory.
