I would hardly call it grandstanding. Should we just sit on our asses and say "Oh well. Another mass shooting."? Florida Governor Rick Scott (Republican) actually did something about it after the shootings in Parkland, Florida.

It is not an easy issue to discuss but there are very few people out there trying to take away people's guns. Limit access to them definitely yes.

No, We should investigate the crime and arrest the offenders. That's what a free and open society with laws should do. Restraining the rights of Law abiding citizens on the basis of the criminal acts of others is against the United states Constitution.

Usually the offenders are dead. On rare occasions they are captured alive and face charges.
