The Redskins just set the bar on mediocre QBs by hanging that franchise tag on Cousins. Now every young QB that has thrown a pass in the NFL thinks he's worth 20 million dollars a year.

Exactly...why in the fuck would Brock leave Denver???

He's only testing Free Agency to see if someone is going to "$illy $lap" (good one) with a shit load of money...Smart agent he has

And the Redskins just Franchised a mediocre QB that has NEVER beaten a winning team that he started against

It's slim pickens out there for QB's

Brock might as well stay in Denver. Peyton just announced retirement.

And the cuts are interesting. The Texans cut Arian Foster and the Redskins cut RG3.

Do anyone think the Texans try to go after RG3?? Just curious on what y'all think.

can't be good to have not one, but two NFL coaches hate your guts and say you are un-coachable.

They are going after that looser at Penn State that O'Brien coached when he was there Hackenberg.

You rip on Hackenberg but not everyone can adapt to every system taught to them. Alex Smith had to learn a new one for eight years in a row but now he's doing fine in KC. Kaepernick was laughed at while at Nevada then he came out and took the 9ers to the SB looking like a league leading QB. Harbaugh bounced and he reverted back to his shit status. Maybe just maybe we need a Kaepernick. It would be the temporary relief that Cortisone 10, Preparation H, or other rectal pain relievers provide until the next wave of pain shows up.

Hackenberg was terrible at the combine. His accuracy was just as bad as in college.

QB's previously coached by O'Brien and then picked up by the Texans...

Ryan Mallet
Bryan Hoyer
Christian Hackenberg

Obviously the coach is not too good a judge on the QB position.

Mallet was a fucking head case. He kept it under control on the sidelines under Belichick but when he became the guy he couldn't handle it.

Hoyer is a shit QB. Always was. He progressed under BoB but fell flat on his face in crunch time.

I don't think those two are accurate reflections on BoB's ability to judge a QB's ability. They are what he had available to him. Along with 5 or 6 other QBs that he went 18-14 and won a division title with. What could he have done if he had a healthy, stable QB that would have allowed him to game plan to exploit opponents weaknesses rather than have to come up with a different plan seemingly every week to fit a new QB's abilities?
IMO BoB did a helluva job with a pile of shit. He needs a chance to run his offense with a good QB before we condemn him as a bad coach.

Hackenberg was clearly uncomfortable in the spread offense. He lost his best receiver and his offensive line was throwing too many lookout blocks.
His arm strength is unquestioned. He can make all the throws and even do it off balance and on the move. His footwork on drops is nearly perfect. He is a prototypical Pro-Style QB that was made to run a spread offense. He showed maturity, leadership and personal poise in a bad situation at Penn State.
Where he lacks is poise in a collapsing pocket. Gun shy perhaps? He was sacked over 100 times in three years. Most of those in the last two. That shouldn't be happening in a spread offense so there were other breakdowns besides his. He hasn't had to read the whole field in the spread so whether he can work through progressions or even make the critical pre and post snap reads based on the entire defense rather than one side of a defensive line is in question, rightfully so but the same can be said about Goff and Lynch Hackenberg at least had a year of exposure to it.
With a decent receiver and a good offensive line Hackenberg lived up to his hype working under BoB's offense throwing for nearly 3000 yards, 20 touchdowns and only a handful of INT's his freshman year.
Now it may sound like I'm high on Hackenberg, I'm not really. I just think The Texans could do worse than Hackenberg considering what their choices will end up being.

They aren't getting Goff or Wentz. The cost is too high. No point in breaking them down.

Lynch has dropped and may be attainable but there are questions about his health. He's shown some inconsistencies sometimes looking really good but sometimes sucking and looking completely mediocre when defenses attacked his strength and shut down the short passes and screens and forced him to throw deeper routes. He'll need some time to acclimate to a pro-style offense, develop the 3-5 & 7 step drops required while scanning the field.

Connor Cook seems to be another Ryan Mallett head case. He may have the most physical and on field potential of any of the QB prospects but character questions abound. The Texans will stay away from him.

Dak Prescott is one that has had his name thrown around Houston since the combine. It seems like it's all upside with him. Toughness, both mentally and physically. He sees the entire field and knows how to adjusts quickly he just doesn't always do it. He has a strong enough arm to make the throws but good foot quickness too and seems to know when to use each. He apparently looks off defenders well at times but telegraphs his throws at others.

He needs to improve accuracy on the move or off balance and learn to throw receivers open. He also will need to learn the pre and post snap reads and adjust. One of his biggest knocks is pre-determining his throws and sticking with it even when it breaks down.

Prescott will be a work in progress and not likely able to start the season. Out of the 3 prospects that the Texans might take only Hackenberg has a possibility to be able to start immediately. The Texans have a project so unless they are ready to move on from Savage or he has improved to starter consideration Prescott doesn't really fill a roster position here.

Beyond that it's free agency and it don't look good.
Here's the most current list of FAs http://nfltraderumors.co/2016-nfl-free-agents-list/
Osweiler is the only guy that intrigues me but he hasn't done anything to warrant what he seems to think he is worth. He want's to get paid on what his potential is. Hell, me too! They are going to have to overpay to get him and I don't think they'll do it. Which means they have to draft a starter, plug in Savage or Tebow help us, Brandon Weeden gets the job...or they pick up some guy that gets cut from another roster. It ain't looking good.

BTW if Osweiler leaves Denver that might be a good fit for RG3. Kubiak would love having him run those bootlegs a few times a game.

Sorry but I do not agree with you on Hackenberg. At the combine where all you do is stand there with no pressure, no rush, and just throw the ball on certain routes he was terrible. Could not hit any of the receivers in the easiest setup for a QB. IMHO BoB does not want to draft a QB ever. He would rather take someone from another team who has been in the league a few years. Of course this means it will always be someone good enough to make a team but not good enough to beat out the starter

He struggled early and sailed the ball but dropped some dimes that were more representative of his videos from Penn State once he settled in. Tells me he was nervous. Hackenberg wouldn't be the first QB to have a bad combine.

I've said the same thing about BoB not starting a rookie but I don't know that he can take that kind of stand at this point. He started a true freshman at Penn State. Just so happens that it was Hackeberg which adds to the speculation.

But again, I know it sounds like I'm on the Hackenberg bandwagon. I'm not. The choices are limited and free agency this year is worse than it's been since BoB's been here. Unless Savage is ready to go it seems like Hackenberg may be the best choice out of some terrible options. What we don't need is more frail has been or never was guys that can't win a job elsewhere. McNair has even said that drafting a QB is a priority. They've got to get someone and give them a chance to start. Even if they are unsuccessful with a Hackenberg they will have at least tried. The alternative just isn't going to be acceptable to the fan base.

BoB doesn't have the luxury of repeating 9-7 this year with 4 quarterbacks. He needs to find his guy(a needle in a haystack) and make him productive, NOW or it's all going to be over.
Who else can the Texans take that is better suited to fit that bill? Connor Cook is the only other guy the Texans have a shot at that has the experience in a Pro Style offense and some high end abilities and his shoulder is even in question.

I will say this about Savage. He went 1,000 days without playing football before his final year in college and since being drafted has gone 800 days without playing a full game in the NFL with little practice time. You don't see him being talked about because those lack of reps mean he may never catch up

SR610 was reporting that Fitzpatrick was offered a multi year contract worth roughly 15 million a year by the Jets and he turned it down.
Brandon Brooks may get offers as high as 10-12 million a year.
Shit is getting stupid.

Well, Mr. "know it all" Adam Schefter says that it will come down to the Broncos and the Texans for Brock...
