True Blood‘s Ryan Kwanten takes on the role of iconic Marvel villain Venom in the new guerrilla-style short film Truth in Journalism, directed by Knights of Badassdom filmmaker Joe Lynch.
It’s too professional to call a “fan film” but it’s definitely unofficial. Imagine The Blair Witch Project fused with a supervillain story. The gritty black-and-white tale is presented as found footage of a journalist-turned-vigilante who wants a documentary crew to immortalize his crimes achievements.

Damn Jbravo this is a classic Ray Harryhausen film. It influenced George Lucas, Stephen Spilberg, James Cameron, etc... You need to check it out. Just remember it came out in 1963, but the effects were impressive for its time.

I know of it, but just never got around to seeing it. I do love those old model style special effects like Clash of the Titans (the original).

I saw Clash of the Titans (original) in a drive-in theatre....pretty awesome memory.
I think I actually saw Jason and the Argonauts in English/mythology class...

Love the old Jason and the Argonauts and the 7 Voyages of Sinbad, Ray Harryhausen pioneered special effects, without him movies wouldn't have obtained some of their magic! Other classic movies I loved were Forbidden Planet, all the old monster movies that used to play on the creature feature on channel 8 at midnight on friday nights like Creature from the Black Lagoon, The Mummy, Frankenstein, Dracula. And of course I loved the old Planet of the Apes movies (all of them oddly enough) Speaking of the Mummy I hear that they are going to reboot the mummy franchise..not sure how i feel about yet another retread. Part of me would love to see more smaller budget movies with original ideas rather than mega movie after mega movie that has to make 300 million to even break even.

I wouldn't be surprised if things are forced more in this direction for next summer. The amount of big budget 'flops' this summer is nuts (Lone Ranger, After Earth, etc). Talking about 1 billion in write offs. On the other hand, a lot of films with smaller budgets are doing very well, like The Conjuring (which I still need to see ARGH why does everyone dislike horror films but me?!?!). I wouldn't say the plot to The Conjuring is amazingly original, but at least it's outside the current formula of well-know property + big name star + 100s of millions.
