Better to get rid of a player a year or two early than a year or two late.

I agree, I have better things to do with my time than burning a player's jersey. Especially when the player has been a class act and is destined to be in the Hall of Fame. Hopefully wearing a Houston jersey!

Once they move on, I understand that is the nature of the beast! I can't blame Dre for moving on. He needs to make the money while he can! The chances are slim to none that he will be able to make that kind of $$$$ after he retires from Pro Football.

When he returns to Houston, I have no problem showing him the respect he deserves. He's earned it! That doesn't mean I will be pulling for his team to win!

I can easily separate the two!

One thing everyone should be concerned about is that now the Texans have just one legit WR. They need to sign someone or draft a WR in the first round. With Rick's track record with lower rounds, if it's not in the first round then it's a bust.

The Titans are now reported looking at Mariotta. Interesting. The other teams in the division could have young and talented QBs and the Texans would have someone that couldn't beat out a drunken Johnny Manziel.

This smells like Ed Reed all over again to me!!! (Money Grab!!)

I would rather watch snatch in Booty Shorts than Cecil Shorts!!!!

Suck BT's Dick Rick Smith!!!!

This officially confirms another one of Rick Smith's awesome draft picks is definitely in the shit pile, Nix the Nose Tackle from Notre Dame that Rick traded up for never played a down for us!!!

I would have rather seen this money go to Crabtree and Greg Hardy than the 2 jake legs we just signed. Well I should rephrase, Wilfork is not a jake leg, he is just old. Andre is too old at 32 but Wilfork is good at 33?? SMMFH!!!

Where my Dynamo Tickets at??? Fuck me!!!

Texans strive to be mediocre!!! KJ overpaid mediocre corner, Newton overpaid mediocre tackle, Hoyer overpaid backup QB, Cecil Shorts WTF?? V. Wilfork old man river hope he lasts the year, past his prime for sure!! Hopefully all the snatch in H Town can rejuvenate Big Vince and he can be disruptive again.

I will punch Rick Smith in the Beezer if I see that mfer walking the streets!!!!

Let's go 8 and 8!!! The goal is mediocrity for McNuttless!!

Coming off an Achilles injury too.

On a positive note, the Short's signing is actually an improvement in the free agent signings/nominal trades for WRs in the Texans' history. Not saying much with the likes of Derrick Mason and Eric Moulds

I agree! Sometimes I shake my head in disbelief at some of the negative, hate-filled remarks made in this thread. But we shouldn't be surprised! Even when the Texans fielded their best team ever, the bitching and moaning continued at a fever pitch.

Some things never seem to change! Good, bad or indifferent, the bitching and moaning never stops.

I personally see little downside with the Vince Wilfork signing. In fact, I feel it has the potential to pay some significant dividends. We already had a Top 10 NFL Defense and with Vince plugging up the middle of the D Line, it could possibly take us to an even higher level.

Vince has been a durable performer throughout most of his NFL career. In fact, I would say that he has been one of the most consistent NFL defensive players over the course of the past 10-12 years. I hope he has another couple of good (playing) years left in him. It would be an added bonus if he is able to help bring along Louie Nix to be his successor.

The worst that can happen would be for Vince to suffer an early season, career ending injury and McNair would have to pay Vince $5 million and we sever our ties.

Hey, it's not my money! I feel the potential rewards, far outweigh the risks. I am glad the Texans signed him!

I'm ready for the season to start!

Jerry and Stephen get Hardy inked to a potential $13 mil contract and a one year "try out".....Cowboys still need to shore up things on defense (however) this addition is a pretty decent start, I'd say.

Questions still loom per the running back situation.....many doubt former Raider McFadden has any tread left. But behind that O-line maybe the plans are to make Hardy a two-way player......

(btw......that last line was made purely in jest. We all know Jerry still wants to wrangle AP away from the Vikes. But that's looking more and more unlikely IMO).
