"Wearing a mask in public doesn't necessarily prevent contracting a virus. There is no study out there that can really prove it one way or the other"

Again, ass backwards logic. Ordinary masks were never espoused to be particularly effective in preventing contraction of a virus; instead they are a means to mitigate the spread of virus from you to others....not 100%, but mitigating. N95 masks are fairly effective in protecting from contraction.

Your logic is even more ass backwards. If you don't have Covid then you can't give it to anyone, therefore you don't need a mask. You sound like a dipshit journalist.

Buried in that thread somewhere is a link to a paper where they looked at health care workers exposed to SARS and COVID-19. They concluded that masks, worn by health care workers, were effective in preventing transmission of the COVID virus. The data did come from closer to the beginning of the epidemic than now. I imagine nobody treats COVID patients now without wearing a mask and face protection, so there's no longer something along the lines of a control group.

"If you don't have Covid then you can't give it to anyone, therefore you don't need a mask."

So, I suppose millions of infections were spread by those that can't give it to anybody; that, or they all didn't give a shit and knowingly spread it.

Can a healthy person spread Covid-19?

Fauci (at best) is an idiot. I get why people are done with wearing masks, especially after those revelations. At some point, for our own psyches' sakes, we either have to return to (at least somewhat) normal, or accept a new dystopian world. I think the majority of people are in the former camp. I just hope the anti-maskers will respect my continuing to wear my N95-level mask, for the time being, and not get triggered. I want to see how the rest of this year and Winter 2022 plays out first, before I shed my mask for good.

No. Fauci's not an idiot. which makes him 10 times as dangerous as a common garden variety idiot. he's been playing his part in the game.

You've been wearing a mask all this time so keep wearing it for the remainder of your life because Viruses are always going to be around. So if a mask will save you and anyone else from Covid-19 it should do the same with any other communicable disease.

No, I want to have a healthy immune system, as well. Sheltering it, in eternity, isn't healthy either for a body. I'm waiting to see that we have finally contained this virus (and its variants) and/or we have a reliable OTC treatment (not just vaccine) for it.

That's my opinion as well...I'm just stating what can be objectively proven up to this point. At best, he is an idiot, and no longer deserves to be in the position of influence he currently inhabits. I, personally, think it is much more nefarious than that, and should have had his medical license revoked over 30 years ago, when he bungled the HIV response.

Ok so once you stop wearing a mask what do you plan on doing to bring your Immune system back up to par? Because it's probably already suppressed to some degree at this point.

After I got vaccinated and stopped wearing a mask my fitness level dropped. I was doing interval training with a KN95 mask in the gym and I could really feel it when I'd go for a run outside, without the mask obviously. I had an extra kick. Wearing the mask was like training at altitude.

SecretE, don't worry, surgeons who wear masks every day haven't been dropping dead. You should wear a mask as long as you see fit.

Stop being obtuse. The people that are spreading it asymptotically aren’t aware they are sick but are still shedding virus. Also some people are shedding virus once they contract it unknowingly and before they have symptoms.

I swear you no mask folks are dumb as bricks.

It sounds like you are saying you will not get the vaccine. That you are waiting for on over the counter remedy? Is that what you are saying, that you will not get vaccinated and you will continue to wear a mask indefinitely? If that's your choice, good for you. Do what you think is best for you. I have the feeling you will shortly be in a very small group of people and if you can handle that, good for you. I'm vaccinated so I don't much care whether if we met, you are wearing a mask or not. I won't point and laugh at you.

Without any symptoms how would someone know they are Asymptomatic and shedding the Virus? You're talking Bureaucratic bullshit.
