Why? HE doesn’t. If he can’t eat it, fuck it, or Tweet about it, it doesn’t stay in that mass of shit under his combover.

Trumps EO eliminated the subsidies to the insurance companies.

Signed January 20, 2017 (Day One after being sworn.)
Sec. 2. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Secretary of Health and Human Services (Secretary) and the heads of all other executive departments and agencies (agencies) with authorities and responsibilities under the Act shall exercise all authority and discretion available to them to waive, defer, grant exemptions from, or delay the implementation of any provision or requirement of the Act that would impose a fiscal burden on any State or a cost, fee, tax, penalty, or regulatory burden on individuals, families, healthcare providers, health insurers, patients, recipients of healthcare services, purchasers of health insurance, or makers of medical devices, products, or medications.

The following week I checked with a CPA and an accountant who did tax work to see if anything had "come down" about an amended form or supplemental form and/or instructions on how to implement the order when filing. When I checked back none had been published.
We may face a similar situation with the current "cuts" depending on what gets implemented in 2018. IMO the tax cuts need to be effective in 2018. Because "we" were constantly being told with the ACA that the negative "changes" were being put off until AFTER the next election for obvious reasons. These changes need to be implemented BEFORE the next election, so voters can see the reality in their pay checks before they have to vote.

A President’s EO can’t override Federal law. The individual mandate is federal law. Thanks to Judge Roberts who deemed it a tax. Only Congress can change it. It appears that they will.

He didn't override "Federal Law"!
He just told his agencies to "waive" enforcement of it ....
... just like he can suspend the deportation of illegal aliens.
The IRS makes "adjustments" ALL THE TIME!!!!
He issued an EO on "enforcement" of the immigration laws!
Upheld by the Courts!

The cost of your health insurance went up because risk pools on the government exchanges are not balanced. The high risk people are buying, the low risk people are not buying. The ratio of low risk to high risk policyholders is less than 35%, when that happens the premium price will increase.

Without the mandate you end up with more sick people in the pool and higher premiums for all of us. Plus some of those that choose not to have insurance will still get sick when they go to the emergency rooms they get treatment that we will have to pay for.
The mandate was a good thing that helped to insure more people and keep costs down!
The only reason it is being taken away is to give more of a tax break to the wealthy!
The only reason Anyone would applaud its demise is ignorance, prejudice, or greed.

+1
Basically a good post. The purpose of the mandate was to get more low risk people into the risk pool. Adding more people who are already sick would not bring the premium price down. The high risk policyholder does not need to be encouraged. The high risk policy holder or someone who is already sick will buy the insurance because they know that the health insurance will be cheaper than paying out of pocket. You are right being "self insured" only works if you don't get really sick. Unfortunately there are many who post on here who just don't understand that.

Maybe he knows better! They can't be forced to buy it, any more than you can be FORCED to buy liability insurance to drive a car.
