The trend right now is to destroy an area of American History that is associated with the Civil War. Because the Civil War in the minds of small men depicts only one thing and that is slavery, which of course equates to racism. So any city in America that has erected a monument of any Civil War nostalgia will remove it or be compelled to remove it. Eventually this will gravitate into other areas of American History where something of our past must be stifled and removed from our minds because somehow it is offensive or vile and we must not remember or teach it. Soon America won't have a history worth remembering, teaching or learning anything from. America will then be a country of dumb down citizens not knowing where they came from or even why they are here.

Most people oppose cancer and I've never heard of anyone supporting cancer (except for a few libs who always want someone on the right to die of it) but most people will never put a ribbon on their car or donate money to fight it. We should teach history and know it.

But this is not a singly ethnic nation and never has been. If you want to celebrate the horrors of the past, then this goes way beyond "removing history" or "culture" as the Orange Sphincter said.

I wasn't alive during the Civil War and neither were you. You aren't a slave and never been one or known one. This country has some dark sides to it's history but that doesn't mean we should hide from it and pretend it never happened. Doing that will never change anything.

On most issues you're certainly correct. But it's not that WE think it's right to fight racism, it's that racism is a completely invalid opinion.

People in town are voting to have those statues removed. Maybe they'll regret it later. But they are saying that they do not want any relic that may lend credence to the idea that they think it was acceptable.

You are falsely juxtaposing opposition to removal of statues with white supremacy. Of course, libtards want to conflate the two but that's complete bullshit.

I can make a strong case for keeping our history intact without endorsing anything having to do with white supremacy.

Most towns are not submitting these decisions to a local referendum or vote. IMO statues should remain up if even a significant minority wants them. Give the protesters permission to erect their own statues rather than tear down existing ones.

Well this is fishy. His name is Jason Kessler. He is the one cited as the organizer of the now infamous “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. The thing is, Mr. Kessler’s arrival on the “alt right” and/or “White Nationalist” scene didn’t occur until November 2016.

That’s right – Kessler didn’t start his white nationalist activism until after Donald Trump won the White House. Prior to that it appears he participated in the far left/socialist Occupy Wall Street movement as noted by the far-left, George Soros-funded Southern Poverty Law Center

Rumors abound on white nationalist forums that Kessler’s ideological pedigree before 2016 was less than pure and seem to point to involvement in the Occupy movement and past support for President Obama.

At one recent speech in favor of Charlottesville’s status as a sanctuary city, Kessler live-streamed himself as an attendee questioned him and apologized for an undisclosed spat during Kessler’s apparent involvement with Occupy. Kessler appeared visibly perturbed by the woman’s presence and reminders of their past association.
