They use Formaldehyde and mercury as preservatives and antibacterial. There is no safe level of either you would think they could come up with something less toxic. The manufacturers don't really like the fact that people are beginning to realize it. That's one reason why I don't take flu shots. Merck is the company that markets many vaccines including flu shots.
