The "surprise" is: who, actually, are you referring to?

1) Dak?
2) Zeke?
3) Other? (Perhaps Zack Martin...? Could that be who you were speaking of?)

Check the roster. There is no player known as Zak.

And should move to 8-1 by the end of the day tomorrow in Pittsburgh.

The Steelers don't look anything near the team that showed up opening day and spanked the Redskins. They've played below .500 since and sit a very mediocre 4-4.

Their defense doesn't put pressure on QB's (tied for last with the fewest sacks in the league).

Dallas should show up and do what they do....and that's run the ball and control the clock; two things the Steelers aren't very proficient at.

Big Ben will want to test our dinged up secondary....and that could be a problem (being he does have all-world Antonio Brown to throw to). Dallas' bend but don't break defense should be able to keep things in check.

Dallas wins, 27-20.

Default More Good news for the Dallas Cowboys

Source: Dallas Cowboys sign former Jacksonville Jaguars DE Ryan Davis to roster sept. 13th and missed 2 games with a hamstring injury. He might be ready for tomorrows game against the steelers.

FRISCO -- The Dallas Cowboys have made a move to help their pass-rush that produced only three quarterback pressures in the season opener Sunday against the New York Giants sept. 11th

The Cowboys on Tuesday sept 13th signed former Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Ryan Davis to their active roster, a source said. The roster move will become official Wednesday. Davis was one of the players who worked out for the Cowboys on Tuesday.

Davis had 11 sacks over the last four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He had 3.5 sacks in 14 games last year with Jacksonville and 6.5 sacks in 2014 in 16 games with the Jaguars.

Davis becomes the Cowboys' sack leader now. His 11 is more than any other player on the Cowboys' roster. The previous leader for the Cowboys was cornerback Orlando Scandrick with 10.5.

Davis dropped some weight in the offseason so he could transition from defensive lineman to outside linebacker for the Jaguars. He sometimes played as a third-down interior lineman for the Jaguars in his four seasons with the club.

Davis (6-2, 275) is 27 and went undrafted in 2012 out of Bethune-Cookman. Davis was a surprise final cut by the Jaguars on Sept. 3.

Davis is taking the roster spot created by the release of cornerback Dax Swanson on Monday.
I guess rookie DE Charles Tapper is not ready yet.

FRISCO
Quarterback Tony Romo isn’t the only Dallas Cowboys player dealing with a fractured bone in his back, Cowboys DE Charles Tapper (4th round) has fractured bone in his back, too.

Cowboys’ LB Jaylon Smith (2nd round) making progress:

http://www.todayspigskin.com/nfl-new...king-progress/

The Cowboys knew it was going to be a long road for LB Jaylon Smith when they drafted him. Some said he’d need all of 2016 off as a redshirt year while he focused on healing. He blew out his knee when Notre Dame played Ohio State in the final college football game of his career. Before that injury, he was projected as a top-five or top-ten talent.

Rookie Maliek Collins (3rd round) Impressing Cowboys Coaches With Push For Playing Time.

These Rookies are High round picks, 4th in each round. Tapper was taken before Dak in the 4th round.
It will be a long while before cowboys get to pick that high again.

The irony of Dallas ending up with Dak Prescott in the fourth round (our second draft pick that round) is that the Charles Tapper (from OU) selection was, of course, our own slotted pick for that round. The pick used for Dak came at the end of that round and was a "Compensatory Pick" awarded per the NFL policy when a team loses a contributing player (starter) in free agency.

And the player we lost was our very own DeMarco Murray....who ended up signing with the Eagles....who played there only ONE season. And is now kicking ass in Tennessee.

Thank you, Philadelphia! Thank you, Chip Kelly!

Ezekiel Elliott sets Cowboys' rookie record for rushing yards in a season.
Elliott finished with 97 yards in the Cowboys' 27-17 win, giving him 1,102 this season so far.
Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith, the NFL's all-time leading rusher, needed nine games to reach 1,000 yards in 1995.
Tony Dorsett had previously owned the record with 1,007 yards in 1977 to help lead the Cowboys to a 12-2 record and a win in Super Bowl XII. Dorsett finished the season with 208 carries and had 12 rushing touchdowns to go along with 29 catches for 273 yards and one receiving touchdown. Elliott is just the third rookie in NFL history to reach 1,000 yards in nine games, joining Eric Dickerson (1,096 in 1983) and Adrian Peterson (1,081 yards in 2007). Elliott set an NFL rookie record with four straight games of at least 130 yards rushing earlier this season.

^^^^^^^^^On the heels of a 27-17 Victory....and a 9-game winning streak is hardly "stealing defeat" from anything, you moron. Try, if you're capable, (which is dubious, at best) to make sense at least Once In A While.

IMHO, he made great decisions in this years draft and he is not cheap or afraid to take a chance to get good players. He has created a GREAT football team and his signature is all over it. pyramider, i am originally from Chicago and i grew up cheering for the bears that has a very cheap owner & GM. The Bears has never had alot of success because of a cheap owner. YES, they won 1 super bowl in 1985 and YES, they had 1 very good player in Walter Payton but, is one of the first teams to start the NFL, and in that amount of time, they should have created many great teams over those years. There are many cheap owners in the NFL, Jerry is not one of them.

Forbes: Dallas Cowboys 1st team worth $4B. NEW YORK - The Dallas Cowboys are the first sports franchise worth $4 billion, according to Forbes. In its annual rankings, Forbes placed the Cowboys ahead of Real Madrid and Barcelona after the NFL team had a 25 percent increase in value.Jul 13, 2016

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/forbes-d...team-worth-4b/

On February 25, 1989, Jones purchased the Cowboys from H.R. "Bum" Bright for $140 million, now they are worth over 4 BILLION.

DO you want a chart/graph of how much the other teams are worth?

I've been a huge critic of Jerry over the years. H U G E.

That said, you can clearly see there's been a new direction in the way things run with America's Team. And that basically began when Wade Phillips was replaced by Garrett.

Garrett was initially accused of being Jerry's puppet. Remember?

Funny...since the 2014 season (and especially this season) the national & local media never bring that up at all. On the contrary.

It was speculated (then verified) JJ wanted Manziel Spring Draft of '14. Stephen backed in down and made the "smart pick": Notre Dame's Zack Martin (All Pro 1st Team rookie season). And Jerry was honored as Executive of the Year by the NFL.

This season is (so far) one for the record books.....and perhaps the history books before its all said and done. The Cowboys are currently being lauded by some in the national press as a model franchise today....the blueprint for doing things right. It started with Garrett's edicts and its moved it's way to the top.

Stephen and Will McClay have bought in. Jerry's bought in. But most importantly, the players this season have bought in; rookies and vets alike. A current 9 game win streak speaks for itself.....that doesn't happen by accident.

That said, the best, perhaps, is yet to come.

Bottom line: Garrett, since giving up the play-calling duties, has become a very good "walk around" head coach (delegates power and decision-making to his lieutentants). Jerry in turn has now become a very good "walk around" General Manager....and he could not be happier for it.
