My flatscreen has a usb port but will only play pix when a flashdrive with pix loaded on it, is plugged in, it won't play movie or audio files. For that you need your PC or laptop connected to the flatscreen. Make this connection with an HDMI cable if you want it to be in HD.

Your all set if you go with fire stick as you only need an hdmi plug. The interface is great. Connecting to a laptop is certainly a cheaper option but you have to deal with booting up, and all the other bullshit. For $39 I still say firestick interface is the way to go, especially if you just want to just turn on your tv and press play. For a tech savy know it all like Celso the laptop probably makes sense.

Roku is very easy to use; just spent 10 days watching Californication thru Roku /Netflix. I finished the series this morn, great ending! Fucking Hank!

If you have a laptop with an HDMI port you are good to go! All you need is an HDMI cable.
If you don't have a HDMI port on your laptop a VGA cable will work fine but won't give you a HD picture.

It's a very simple connection and you need no firestick, roku, Hulu, Netflix, etc. Your laptop will provide you with far more than what those 4 offer and won't cost a penny....

PS: With this setup I watched American Sniper a couple weeks ago!
Yesterday watched the first hour of Fifty Shades of Grey, undecided if I'll watch the other hour and a half....seems to be more of a chic flick....lol

Well you can get a decent new laptop for this purpose for ~300 beans.
Or you can hook it up to your PC which should work even better since most PCs are more powerful than laptops.....
