The questions are mostly known in advance and the candidates go into the "debates" with well-rehearsed lines that were fed to them by campaign staffers.

We all saw that video and are perfectly familiar with the context. It was a painfully cringe-worthy moment. Palin had the look of a deer caught in the headlights. If she had actually read much of anything, she would have reeled off the names of a few books and journals. Surely she realized that failing to do so meant that she'd just been caught in a "gotcha" trap.

It's clear that Sarah Palin demonstrates zero intellectual curiosity. Anyone who believes otherwise and thinks she's ready for prime time must be spending a lot of time inhaling in the Centennial State.

Conservatives need to find and support candidates with intellectual heft, not talking points-dispensing lightweights who try to get the job done with personality cult status alone. Haven't we already seen enough of that?

And isn't it hilarious to see Barleycorn hectoring others on their "manners?"
