Once again, can we stop hijacking my thread? What does this have to do with a steak?

I've actually enjoyed the steaks at Saltgrass in Round Rock. They serve it with the Shiner Bock Bread and honey butter.....that along with an ice cold Shiner Bock in a frosted Mug.....doesn't get much better than that.

Hanger steak&Eggs, Counter Cafe; but again don't go fat slobs or disgusting/creep old men; every place has its unofficial scene. Get a sirloin and Lobster at strip clubs if that's where your most comfortable eating alone or with paid company.

Yeah who ever heard of a fat guy being welcome at a restaurant? We should probably all have our food delivered.

Unhappy Sorry

Responded to what I thought was an inappropriate comment - my apologies.

Wonder if you flash your gun at restaurants to get better service as you insinuated you do with providers?!

It's funny, you seem obsessed with overweight and older men, certain ethnic groups and want to disparage a large percentage of the posters here, yet reading your posts, you seem to have quite a few insecurities/issues of your own. Maybe instead of constantly trying to incite, you should try a little introspection now and then. It could do you a world of good.

maybe my posts elicit so many responses, because they hit a "Little too close to home" huh? well ya know the truth hurts, and i'm not purposely trying to disparage anyone; like Whispers I too "am brutally honest at times"; I wish we all could live in Your world of fantasy, but hey your are going to find out the hard truth one way or another and you might as well hear it from someone who was once in those same shoes.

I have no idea what any of the above means....I'm certainly not overweight so not sure what you're talking about. I've only ever responded to TWO of your posts that I'm aware of, one where you talked about flashing your gun in order to get BBBJ and this one. I have noticed that you seem to bring race up a lot, but whatever floats your boat. Out of respect for Sixx's thread, I'll refrain from any further hijacking of his thread.

My favorite used to be Ray's but they closed up a few years back and Ray has since passed away but I heard a rumor that Ray's son opened a place in Geargetown. Had a good steak at McCormick and Schmick's but by the time we threw in the wine it cost 90.00 a head for food and tip, 4 - people.

If you are into cooking your own like I am then I learned this nice trick for a great steak. Age your steak in the fridge for 3-days before grilling, I like ribeyes best for the grill and I rub them with a bit of worcestershire, sprinkle liberally with salt and ground fresh pepper, put them on a wire rack, (the taller the better for more air circulation) then stick them in the fridge for 3-days turning them every day. They will look dry and dark but the taste is much improved and they cook with a beautiful crust. Also works with pork chops, lamb chops and roast.

Do any of you flash fry your steaks in a pan first before putting them on the grill? I was reading where searing them on high heat in a pan for just 2-3 minutes helps lock in the juices once you put in on the grill? I'm definitely not a grilling master so figured I'd ask.

I learned from a Steak master... dribble of oil (better with butter) in high preheated skillet. About 3 min per side, then put the whole kaboodle skillet with steak in it, into 450 degree oven.
3 more min per side for rare, 5 for med well. Searing is the trick, oven keeps it from getting dry or tough..

I'll have to try that. Thanks!
