Keep in mind that the catalyst for police interest is often complaints from neighbors, whether it's a residential or business area. One recent TV report interviewed a near-by Salon worker who claimed that she was worried about her well-being when seeing the kind of male traffic that was frequenting the busted location.
As a walk-in, I was once asked to come back in an hour. I sat in my car at somewhat of a distance, and saw the guys that entered in the next 60 minutes. This can be a sleazy hobby at times, based upon some clientel. It looked like the place was a methadone clinic...some guys look like they probably had bad body odor.
What these ladies tolerate is truly amazing. You couldn't pay me enough to have to spend an hour with some of these strange looking sweaty mongers. A valid reason for a Companion to have a high price tag is to help filter out the riff raff.
The reader of this post probably has a clean body and clean clothes before participating in this hobby. When you check out the mugshots on LE web sites, remember that just one hour prior, he was trying to obtain servicing. Now imagine that you have a small business, and these are the guys parading into an adjacent establishment. You wouldn't want to have them stand near you at the ATM, and you wouldn't want them detracting from your business.
Cops are busy. There are 1,000 sub-amp. They could "investigate" anyone of them at random. But they don't...they investigate that one's that have "citizen complaints." Practically every bust news story will mention, "after receiving complaints from the neighbors, we began an investigation." If you were a small business owner, you might have a different perspective on the proximity of some of these locations.
