Most of you have no clue as to Patraeus. In the military and with those who follow the military Patraeus was the most accomplished general of our generation and probably since WWII. He reshaped the way the armed forces fought wars, especially the type of war you find in Iraq and Afgahn. Iraq would have turned out a whole lot worse if not for him.

He had to leave the CIA because in the world of spies vs spies you look for any edge and one of the biggest is infidelity so he had to leave and did so. I suspect he will still be consulting behind the scenes. Once in the CIA you never really leave.

No, we aren't portraying libs as stupid. Libs ARE stupid. We just expose it.

Were the "Libs" "stupid" enough to fall for the bogus Romney Chrysler Corporation story? Or were you the only one that "stupid?" That's what I call being exposed!

And now we know why you are known as the StupidOldFart!

As for General Petraeus, I thought he was an outstanding General who worked closely with both Democratic and Republican Administrations. He is not the first General (or Admiral) to have an affair and he won't be the last. I appreciate his service to this country and wish him well!

Just a suggestion:

If you're going to hector others in this forum on what you claim to be their "cluelessness" regarding the man's accomplishments, it might be wise to at least demonstrate that you know how to spell his name.

No, you certainly were not. We all misspell a word or name from time to time.

But you didn't call other people in the forum "clueless!"

BigLouie did. Big difference!

(I guess he just tends to go astray when he isn't simply copying and pasting something that someone else wrote.)

None of you see this as strange? The timing and all? Infidelity is only a problem if you are hiding it. He could have told his wife and his boss (if the FBI missed this when he became CIA chief) and you can no longer be blackmailed. That is what made Clinton so dangerous to national security. Petraeus (can we settle on a spelling) didn't have to resign for an affair unless you really want to believe that none, nada, zero of the former directors never had an affair. Is that what you believe?

Telling the truth about an affair is much less complicated than being compelled to answer questions regarding the knowledge and indifference of one's boss that results in the death of government employees while in the service of their country.

Furthermore, removing himself from the line of fire and responsibility in the chain of command from this point forward may well save his "career" and his "retirement."

It may also save Obama's career and retirement. That's the bigger issue.
