I'm not sure if this counts, but I watched High Fidelity for the umpteenth time yesterday and I am going to add Peter Framptons' "Baby,I Love Your Way"( one of my favorite songs) redone by Lisa Bonet!
Her rendition was just as breezy as his if not more and her timing is beautiful,plus I love this movie. If you haven't heard and you like the song check it out

There are a TON of excellent covers in there. Joan Osborne, Ben Harper, Gerald Lavert, Bootsy Collins*, & a several others whose names escape me now...much to my shame.

If you like that music or you're just interested in that era...I can not recommend this film highly enough!!!

* In addition to being talented...Bootsy is just one FUNNY mf-er. His cover of "Cool Jerk" belongs on my list of covers that just crack me up!

I saw this documentary when I was up latenight on Showtime or HBO but it was amazing if you love Motown era. Ben Harpers' "I Heard it Through the Grapevine" was alright,can't even come close to Marvins'. The Funk Brothers and Chaka Khans "Whats Going On" was on point,and I have to agree Bootsys' cover of "Cool Jerk" was the best part of the set. Gerald leverts' "Shotgun" was soo on point,aww I miss his music R.I.P. Great thread!!!

However, in 1985 Whitney Houston re-recorded the song and it instantly went to number one on the Billboard charts. Earning Dolly Parton over SIX MILLION DOLLARS in royalties. Now that's one hell of a cover!

Whitney Houston re-recorded it in 1992, not 1985, on the soundtrack of the movie "The Bodyguard".
