If a provider called up saying that she was on her period would I or you think that she was just making an excuse for not showing up?
After about 20 minutes of her trying to persuade me to try I declined, paid her in full, and said goodbye.
I still have no idea of what was the right thing to do? Should'nt she have given me the option at the beginning? There must be some sort of unwritten rule here. What would you have done?

The answer is no, a reputable lady will let you know in a discreet manner ahead of time if her "aunt flo" is visiting. Some ladies continue service with special items / devices designed to stop the visitation of "aunt flo" so no muss no fuss.
