Health care workers in high risk environments wear N95 masks or positive pressure PPE designed to keep them from inhaling potentially infectious particles from patients. Like most everything else in this world, the equipment is not 100% effective, or they sometimes have to do without. I think I've pointed out to you before that NON-N95 masks are used to minimize (again, not 100%) OTHERS from from potential infectious particles expelled by YOU.
To the Gym Rats.
Nothing wrong with cleaning the equipment for a variety of reasons, but Covid is primarily respiratory transmitted, by breathing in contaminated air.

In my opinion,you hit the nail on the head.
Like you, many others hate to wear the friffin things and try to rationalize reasons not to.
