My comment about 87 people was intended to make the point that it isn't just wind speed that determines how bad things are. It is the population and the amount of flooding that have the greatest effect. Too many people in this thread and others were downplaying Sandy like it was no big deal because the wind was only 90 mph.

And what was your point about Galveston and Bolivar? I remember plenty of sympathy expressed from across the country after Ike hit, including the northeast. It was all over national news. And the rest of the county, incluind ghte northeast helped pay for the rebuild.

Americans should NEVER be victims at all. That's the whole point of being American. When you get knocked down, you get back up again and keep going. (I can really say that since I was thrown from a horse twice this weekend.) It's simple.... not easy.


Look, Katrina and Ike both affected me in money, time and worry. I'm sitting pretty over here in Sunny 50 degree Texas. Red Cross can really use the help. Donate your 20 bucks, or 100 bucks, and bamm, you're done and can get back to life knowing you gave to other Americans.
