I wish I could find a way for you to live in the world that you desire without living in that hell myself.
Sorry to break the news to you, but what got us in this mess in the first place is Barney Frank, Chris Dodd and their mortgage schemes. Yes, keep the regulators out of Wall Street's way and BP's way (don't know what Massey Energy is, so I can't comment). The economic downturn began when the Democrats took over Congress in Jan. 2007 (this has been stated over and over again) and, we hope, will start turning around this next year - and, yes, the downturn is still occurring, regardless of what the WH economists say was the end of the recession in the middle of 2009.

Sorry, Cheaper, but I need a translator for this one. I will say that the President, regardless of the party, gets too much blame when things go sour and too much credit when things go well. I don't blame the Bamster for the state of the economy as much as I blame Congress, but I do say that the Bamster's need to regulate commerce is contributing to the economic downturn (and in turn the high unemployment rate). He can regulate by Executive Order (e.g., moratorium on deep sea drilling for 7 years, even though the BP spill has all but disappeared) or by dictates from the numerous regulatory agencies under his control (FCC, SEC, FDIC, etc).

I think this goes way before Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, etc. Like all the way back to the Carter era.

The Dems can blame Bush, the Rep can blame Obama or Clinton, but the truth is we have been robbing Peter to pay Paul since the new deal under FDR. The government representatives knew some day the piper had to be paid but they always managed to hold off the destruction and push it onto the next administration until the day we tried to rob Peter again, found out that he had already been robbed and that left Paul (us) unpaid and holding the bag. The same thing is going on right now with Social Security, each administration knows this is going to implode, but they put it off on the next guy hoping they end up holding the bag, the problem is we all end up holding the bag while they run off to their golden palaces and live like kings.
