I`ve googled the book and it seems to be reasonable scientific research, but if that is the case, then there will be no support of what you say - which means women have to be careful and watch out. (or don`t dress too sexy). That is not possible.
But thanks for posting evidence that de-validates your own statements :-)
here is the book review from amazon:

"The authors also attempt to identify the causes rape using mental illnesses or more particularily the personality disorders as a contributing factor. Other aspects such as the relationship of pornography with rape are investigated (and in the case of porn it appears that the almost explosive growth of porn in recent years is lowering rape incidence)."

so? it states that sexpositivism is lowering rape incidents?
and it also states that people who rape are mentally ill and not that women are behaving unproperly?
See??

I think you may be putting words in my mouth, Nina.

All I have ever said about provocative dress is that it CAN be a trigger. I didn't say it was the only one or even the main one. All I have suggested is that there is some wisdom in women having a certain amount of situational awareness.

If you disagree, I apologize. I will say you have at least been civil in your disagreement and have not wished rape upon my family and lovers.

That is an outrage, and maybe I am wrong, but if I were a woman on this board, I would be far more offended about that curse than my mere devil's advocacy of the other side of the rhetorical coin, but what do I know?

I think winking at her comment is a bit problematic. I am going to move on, for the stench of hypocrisy in this thread is a bit more than I can bear.

Have fun, but be safe ladies.

Hi Wetwork,
I think you should not overestimate exxaggerations that were an emotional response.
We all do such things and it is not meant to be verbally. You know that. It was a mechanism of self defense, a questionable one, but put yourself in her situation ?
Feeling helpless is also a trigger and your answers were provocative and not very thought thru. I agree that rapists get "triggered" , you are right with that, i never said this would not be the case.
But with putting the responsibility for that onto the women with telling them how to behave you made women that got raped (aka the very emotional response you got) feel like you were defending the rapist and put the blame on them.
That is what i am saying. I think its best we all move on and don`t put needles into a bees hive . And try not to take emotional responses verbally. They were said out of the utmost pain of heplessness and that is that. I do not agree with curses, but i can see them in the right perspective, because you defended rapists. For some that can feel like getting raped all over again, which explains the overly emotional and unjustified answer you got. I hope you can understand that?
