My take:
After a handful caught on camera of "dear caught in the headlights reactions", Timmy lost.
One of the first things that anyone that has worked professional stage learns as a rookie is to avoid that. Most politicians have it down also.
TV & movie folks are lucky, the film editor can edit.
But, live stage is live stage and politicians are on live stage from the minute they walk out the door in the AM.
Timmy can't handle it.

That deer-in-the-headlights look came from hearing such crazy, unhinged lies coming from his opponent. A nice guy like Walz has likely never had to engage with a deranged, pathological liar like Vance before.

Anyway, I'd say the debate was about 60/40 in favor of Walz until Vance refused to answer the question "did he (trump) lose the 2020 election?".

Vance dodged the question by saying he was "focused on the future" and countered with some whataboutism bullshit re. Covid (which was also in 2020 - not "the future").

Vance lost the debate in that moment. He became just another clown lying for his boss.

The night went to Vance - until you fact check things. When debating topics based in reality, Walz was the clear winner. Especially considering Vance's "damning non-answer".
