... Ye Christ! ... barneys all-about the forum!

... Anyone worth his-own salt surely knows that Cleopatra
was really Australian.

I could surely tell THAT fact by the nerks she had
when Elizabeth Taylor played her.

Some o' you sorry lads DO need to learn yer history.
Surely gettin' to be downright embarrassin'...

What I did point out is that not much is known about her mother she could very well have had some African blood because there was 300 years of intermixing between the arrival of the Macedonians and Greeks and the birth of Cleopatra which would be 10 or so generations.

Your lack of simple understanding should be concerning and you might wanna get checked out.
You don't have to imply anything. It's pretty dam clear you don't really know as much as you think you do.

If this were 1963 and Cleopatra tried to Register for class at the University of Alabama (When Broadway Joe Namath was the quarterback there), Gov Wallace would have blocked her like he did the other black students. She would have only been allowed to register after President Kennedy sent the National Guard. You know what they say in the deep south it only takes one drop. What was previously pointed out by 1B1, there is a good chance that Cleopatra had that one drop.

JD, you remember Strom Thurmond, right? The staunch segregationist who twice voted against Civil rights legislation, even though he fathered a child with a Black woman.

How many years was Strom Thurmond in the Republican Party, almost 50?

Your whole "the parties switched" argument has been debunked so many times that any serious person knows better.

Alas.....

Your link does not get into the fact that The segregationists, supremeists and seperatists are in the Republican Party now. A perfect example is David Duke the former Grand Dragon of the Louisiana KKK, switched from the Democratic party to the REPUBLICAN party.

What do you think LBJ meant when he said "We have lost the south forever" by supporting the his Civil Rights Act". The "WE" would be the democratic party. BTW which party do most southern states vote for in a Presidential Election, starting with the 1968 election? Answer the republican candidate.

Any serious person would know that.

Remember the low turnout for Trump when he became president. Most of the people who attended were the Segregationists and supemists who thought Trump was going to send all AA people back to Africa. Incredibly there are some on here who still think like that. The wildcatter that got banned, he's one of them.

Sorry Texassappr, you don't deal in reality.

As for your link Robert Byrd was in the Klan and he stayed in the democratic party. However, He did vote for the ACA (Obamacare). Did any republican Senators vote for it?

I posted this sometime back,

https://www.eccie.net/showthread.php?p=1063147726

So, Texas history and my personal experience are consistent with the following, from your link,

A total of 21 Democrats in the Senate opposed the Civil Rights Act. Only one of them, "Dixiecrat" Strom Thurmond, ever became a Republican. The rest, including Al Gore, Sr. and Robert Byrd--a former Exalted Cyclops in the Ku Klux Klan--remained Democrats until the day they died.

Moreover, as those 20 lifelong Democrats retired, their Senate seats remained in Democrat hands for several decades afterwards. So too did the overwhelming majority of the House seats in the South until 1994, when a Republican wave election swept the GOP into control of the House for the first time since 1952. 1994 was also the first time Republicans ever held a majority of House seats in the South--a full 30 years after the passage of the Civil Rights Act.

Adav8s28, What does the Affordable Care Act have to do with racism?

These links, from Cheap Charlie's thread, are worth a look,

https://news.gallup.com/poll/354638/...-new-high.aspx
https://news.gallup.com/poll/254120/...president.aspx

Ninety three percent of people polled by Gallup in the South in 2021 approved of interracial marriage. And ninety-four percent of Republicans polled in 2019 would vote for a Black candidate for president.

It wasn't about race. Rather Republican conservative values after, say, the year 1996, won out in the South.

Hubert Humphrey and George McGovern, the Democratic nominees in 1968 and 1972, were weak candidates. Carter swept the south except for Virginia in 1976. Reagan was an exceptionally strong candidate, and yes, he won the south except Georgia in 1980. He won every state except Minnesota in 1984, and Bush Sr. won most of the country as well in 1988. Then Clinton came along, and in 1992 and 1996, split the south with the Republican candidates.

You're wasting your words on this one. There was no flip and that has been proven to be a wet dream of the left. No, those racists of the 1950s and 60 are still firmly in the democratic party. As for Duke, he was only an opportunist. He was a democrat until he saw the handwriting (and Reagan victory) writ large on the wall. Just one more low character person of the left.

Also, this was a major thread hijack and I declare it as such.

An American Truism

Not all republicans are racist.

But all racists are republicans (ok, 99% as I hate hyperbolic exaggeration).
