I doubt most American consumers give a damn about the political or personal ideology of a given CEO. Steve Jobs was reputed to be a major dickhead and tyrant, and he nixed Apple's corporate giving when he returned to the company (despite the fact he claimed to be Buddhist), and I don't know of many people who refused to buy Apple products because Jobs was as asshole.

Some folks like Sarah Palin and Rick Santorum use the CFA fracas to try and make themselves seem more relevant, but there is virtually no successful corporation who doesn't engage in some behaviour or have a bigmouth CEO who eventually pisses someone off. Remember how people were hating on Whole Foods some time back because their founder expressed some views about healthcare that some considered disagreeable? And WFM has done a lot to help farmers and producers grow their businesses in the form of regional/national exposure and microloans.

My feeling is the people who scream the loudest about boycotting a company over things like this rarely or never patronize the businesses in the first place. Controversies like this are convenient excuses to engage in all sorts of mudslinging... I am not Christian, but I do not care for the wholesale manner in which ALL Christians are being tarred and feathered as homophobic and small-minded by those who claim to support gay rights. Neither do I care for PDA by any configuration of genders, and I fail to see how making out at CFA is going to win hearts and minds. It will only polarize both sides further. Utter fail on both sides.

p.s. If you think people who participate on this board are bereft of any morals, then you have surely bought into the Judeo-Christian mindset that sex is bad/dirty. Speak for yourself in regards to lacking a moral compass.
