That's a strange coincidence - I was thinking of posting that as my next one, but I didn't because I thought no one would guess it.

I figured it was either going to be absurdly easy or absurdly hard. But I thought if anyone was going to get it, it'd be biomed; he seems to know all the old clasics.

Yep. Jose Ferrer as the court-martial defense counsel Barney Greenwald. One of the more interesting changes of ethnicity in casting a movie, as Jose Ferrer was, of course, a Puerto Rican and in the movie he plays a New York Jewish lawyer.
Your turn.

Ah, but Keefer was too much of a coward to let his ass be kicked, even if Greenwald was three sheets to the wind at the time.

Pretty good guess, though off the mark. I suspect that had I posted a picture featuring the stars:
it would have been a bit easier. This one was Hellcats of the Navy (1957), starring the future president and first lady.
This one should be quite a bit easier, I think.

Wild-ass guess: "Them!" ? But that was giant ants rather than spiders as I recall.

Same genre, so it's not a bad guess, but no. That one was Leo G. Carroll ("Alexander Waverly" from The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and The Girl From U.N.C.L.E.) in the 1955 schlockfest Tarantula.
This one has a number of titles I'll accept, and all of them are unique enough that if you get any of them I know you've got the right movie.
Cheers,
bcg
