I think you missed the false equivocation part.
There is a difference between an intimate conversation that starts out, "I love you honey, but when I was in a dry spell, I saw a couple of escorts"...and
"I love you honey, but you should know I was an escort for a few years and bagged X dollars."

Which is a wordy way of saying, "honesty is the best policy." It's pretty hard to argue against that. Especially when one is concerned about the outcome.
