COG....

I have no problem with you, you spend way more time on the computer than I have ever thought about.

But the way you try to insult fellow fucktards, is pretty silly.... Attack the Handle.

Just for information sake, who decided you were cute when you came up with your handle?

Have a good New Year!

Answers please, stop beating your drum.
I approve of just what the 2nd amendment states. The right to bear arms. I believe we all have the right to defend ourselves even if it comes down to deadly force.

Do you know how to defend yourself against an attacker who uses fresh fruit?

Never mind, this one would just be too easy.

10 yards away with a knife is still possibly a good shoot, and before long it will likely be a good shoot. There is something pretty well known in legal and self defense/ law enforcement circles as the "Tueller Drill". This is a demonstration, often given to juries, of how someone 21 feet away holding a knife can get to a citizen/cop BEFORE they can draw their carry weapon. The average time for this act is 1.5 seconds. There is currently a lot of discussion around raising the distance from 21 feet out to 30, which would get to your 10 yard example. This increase in distance has been put forth to compensate for the average joe who is carrying concealed, as he will need extra time to get a gun from concealment.

This has been pretty well established and used in court rooms since the mid 80's by the way.

If someone was 10 yards from me threatening me with a knife I would draw my gun and if they moved towards me, I would fire. But, the law in my state is pretty clear on things like this. Some states, not so much.

By the way, this story happened a while ago. The 2 guys knew that her husband had died and they thought he might have some prescription pain pills, that was the reason for the break in.

I'm getting pretty sick of folk who don't read what I write and put words into my mouth.

I have never argued against right to bear arms or 2nd amendment.

I have only argued for the application of common sense.

Feeling vulnerable making you defensive?

You haven't answered the question. Which option would you choose? Or some other option? Or are you choosing the 'no regulation' option?

If you think the 2nd amendment is clear cut and can only be interpreted in one way in the modern era, then you need help.

ps. i see in another post you are a little more clear, but I had to try to edit it to clarify, you didn;t say whether my understanding of your statement was a correct understanding or not.

If my understanding was a correct understanding, then we have similar views. We agree.

But you seem conflicted - on the one hand you write with some nuance, on the other you are making simplistic tub thumping cliches.

Exactly. In this partcular case, it was probably much less than 10 yards, so as I stated before it was justified legally and morally, and whether they had a knife or gun or were displaying it, is pretty irrelevant. There would be an assumption that they had some kind of weapon, if only their bare hands.
