POLITICS? OMFG
One of the great things about a Board like this is that we can have positive dialogue about ALMOST anything. What I really find enjoyable is that so many folks have lost sight of the fact that the problems that we are experiencing today are the direct result of policies and actions taken by previous administrations.
Regardless of who takes office after the next election we will still be experiencing the work of the current administrations efforts to correct the destructive policies and short sighted deregulatory efforts that have gotten us where we are today.
In order to right this listing ship we need to bite the bullet, reduce waste, and make sound decisions based on REAL WORLD economic reality. Europe is going the hell in a hand basket and if we don't plan properly we will wind up like Greece or Spain ... and that ain't good!
Unless someone is incredibly wealthy, and I don't know that many of us here are, we're all part of that 99%! The 47% that Mitt has pissed off probably include a few of us as well!
All I want from the official that I vote for is for he or she to be a realist and to be honest. I don't want to, and will not vote for, a twit who can't pay his fair share of taxes, and who flip flops continually. Say it like you mean it! Stick to your guns! Be honest about what you are planning to do and DO IT!
Ok ... I'm off my Mother F%#K*&G Soap Box! I don't give a rat's ass who you vote for but fuc&@#g VOTE ... If you VOTED then you have a right to Bitch about who is in office, but if you didn't or you don't vote ... then the problems in this country ... are ALL YOUR FUC&%^G FAULT!!!!
Fuck It ... The Only Political Position I will Run for is KING!!!! Feel free to start a write in campaign for ME!!!!

watching this year's campaign, is like watching a Buffalo Bill's game. a few hot spots, but the overall teams sucks.
This is my fear, for the government get of the mess, and support its spending plan, it would need to signifigantly increase the tax rate. The current government is spending 2x as much as it is taking in tax revenue everyday.
One platform says it wants to create 1 million jobs, well america needs 10 million jobs.

I agree with this DD. In economics this phenomenon is called a lagging indicator as opposed to a leading indicator.
To give the president the benefit of the doubt; all administrations inherit the effects of policies from the previous Executives in Chief. These policies take time to manifest either positive or negative results, even as the presidency changes hands.
So, it’s like trying to stop a freight train and starting it again. It takes time and effort. Maybe the presidential term should last 8 years instead of 4.
I’m not nearly an expert in politics and the issues we face as a nation so, unfortunately, due to this ignorance, I really don’t know who to vote for.

How can I vote for anyone I dont fully agree with.
I am not an Obama fan as he has proved that he cannot do the job.
No matter who he brings in they fail.
The job of a leader is to hire people to do things that he cannot.
He hasnt done that yet.
Me being a leader of a company I have to hire someone to do the job I do not know.
I dont know numbers. I hire someone who does.
I dont know anything at all about shipping, I hire someone.
He is a figure head, that is all. You can blame Bush, Obama, Clinton or anyone else. Blame them all.
In the end it is the one that needs to hire the correct people to do the job.
He has failed. NEXT!
I can't say what what the next leader will do but I can see what the one we have hasn't.

Bush said there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq,5000 US lives lost and trillions of dollars spent, still no weapons of mass destruction. Bush said he was going to get Bin Laden "dead or alive", we all know how that turned out. Reagan said he was going to cut taxes and the economy was going to grow so much that he didn't have to cut spending to balance the budget. After he raisedtaxes 11 or 12 times he still left us with 2 trillion more of debt. What is 2 trillion dollars with 30 years interest? my guess is around 5 trillion. How much of the current budget deficit is interest on the national debt? about half. Republican deficit spending, it's the gift that keeps giving, but not in a good way.
Obama has been hamstrung by republicans in congress, who from day 1 have been unwilling to work with him and are more concerned about restricting abortions than dealing with the economy. Are you better off than you were 4 years ago? every single American should be able answer YES to that question because if you recall 4 years ago the world economy was on the brink of collapse.
As I'm typing this, I'm watching John Mccain being interviewed and advocating GREATER military involvement in Afghanistan. You guys are whining about free phones for the poor, but ignore the trillions wasted in our misadventures in the middle east. Our "fiscally conservative" republicans in congress have no problem increasing our defense budget when we already spend as much as the rest of the world COMBINED.You guys whine about"socialistic Obamacare". yet say nothing about the socialistic(guaranteed profit margins, cost overruns)way we contract for defense services. Our fiscal condition will never get better till we get defense spending to a more reasonable level.

Well said!! From what little we know about what Romney would do with the economy, experts are predicting it will only increase our deficit/debt. We know That Ryan's plan doesn't balance the budget till 2040 and that's if we're lucky. That doesn't sound like a prescription for a sound economic future to me.

We spend over $600 billion a year on welfare? I don't think you know what you are talking about.
Could you be more specific the about the changes we made. Iraq and afghanistan are a mess.just as the experts predicted 10 years ago
You think the military makes me sleep better at night. 2 friendly neighbors and 2 oceans have more to do with my sleep than anything the military does. Moreover you assume that the we couldn't spend our defense dollars in a more wise way.

I'm not for weakening the nation's defense, I'm for spending less money more wisely. If the economy crumbles we will have Reagan, Bush and Bush to thank for it, 10 trillion in debt and an economy on the brink of collapse, that's what your tax cuts and deficit spending get you.
