Both of them had ties and connections. Martin is originally from Steubenville, Ohio. And got his start from the local mafia there. Martin was given help with his singing career by the Chicago Outfit who owned saloons in the city, and later performed in shows hosted by these bosses when he was a star. The mob bosses were Tony ("Joe Batters") Accardo and Sam Giancana.

I did speak for myself.
Did I really call you "mija"? I'm not noted for my typing prowess.

here is what I read
his comedic portrayal of life as an alcoholic lush, which many people never realized was just an act.
was just an act.

Remember Foster Brooks from the Dean Martin roasts? His drunck act was very funny.

Jack Benny was really very generous, and a talented violinist.
I didn't like Whitney's singing at all, but she is still due respect.

+1
. . . and Brooks' tale about a young Dean Martin performing an emergency field vasectomy with a rusty Boy Scout knife on a Great Horney Owl; you can still hear him in the northern wilds crying: “Who?” “Who?” “Who?”

Just watched one of the news stations that showed the actual coroner report which did say cocaine was evident.
With that said it is sad that some want to reduce this woman down to her drug addiction and discount what a phenomenal singer and person she was. And yes, I still believe these nasty media blitzes and the awful comments concerning her even on here are racist or cloaked / disguised to look like it isn't racist and stereotypical of black women.

Oh Gawd! Another "everyone's a racist" idiot.
Her death was a tragedy, but she was the one using cocaine and other drugs. Her skin color had nothing to do with it. She didn't die because she was "black", she died because she made some horrible choices. Get over yourself and take your self aggrandizing pomposity with you. We've exceeded our quota of those on here.

all that "stereotypical of black" sure made her lots of money while she was not dead.
Darn racists always buyin albums and over priced tickets.
(for artists who carry a note just a leeetle too long)

She went hunting with Cheney just hours before her death.
She could have been leaking enough to sink in the tub.

Easy, slugger...could simply be an honest mistake. You're gushing about a dead singer like a teenage girl. You self-identify as a bitch on the regular AND you use the word, toodles.
That's just a hop...skip...& a squat-to-pee from mija
Only natural for some folk to get confused. The cat may have a point!
