Too much incest, can't put it on screen and it is unfortunately so intertwined with so many of his stories that you would have to do so much rewriting it wouldn't resemble the book any more. Which is precisely what happened with Starship Troopers (although I do like the movie, it is only remotely based on the book).

One of my favorite authors is James Morrow who writes fantastic dystopian fiction. One of books (Towing Jehovah) is about the Vatican paying an oil tanker captain to tow the corpse of god to the Artic circle. Another, City of Truth, is based in a society in which every one in the society only ever speaks literal truth. Neither conservative or liberal despite the content.

Examination of cultures or behaviors after a "what if" moment can certainly be interpreted as either conservative or liberal but that is mostly within the reader. Heinlein is one of those authors that people love to label as being for one side or the other and really...........I disagree. Take three of his books ~ Starship Troopers, Stranger in a Strange Land (invention of the water bed in that one), and Job: A Comedy of Justice.

While one could make the argument that Troopers is a conservative book (deals with the military in a positive manner, personal responsibility) what do you when confronted with Stranger? Free love, mormon satire, the secret to a great kiss, tattoo-positive, antigovernment. Same author, same underlying themes, presented in a completely different manner. Is he a liberal now? What about Job? It is a mockery of conservative christian values.

You may wish to co-opt the books on this list for a "conservative agenda" (lolololol) but it doesn't make the books OR the authors conservative.

I would also like to point out that when I challenge you guys with responses that are well thought out and researched, with responses that are polite, with topical analysis YOU FUCKING IGNORE IT.

And this really illustrated my point to a tee. So thank you fritz! I fully admit it is often terribly difficult for me to refrain from being a grammar nazi on this board but as it is the path of least intelligence when you are putting the smack down on someone I usually choose to let it slide.
