Yes, obviously. It is merely a matter of how much, who benefits, and who pays.

Ah yes, all capitalism is driven by greed and must be throttled by the government.
Can somebody tell me if corporate welfare is what all of these huge capitalistic corporations give in charitable donations in extremely large amounts of money. What about the immense numbers of people that capitalism employs and the taxes collected as a result. What about those greedy dividends they pay to 401k plans that aid in the retirement and pension plans of so many average citizens.

Talk about perfect timing:

http://www.cnn.com/2015/08/13/asia/c...ons/index.html

A massive explosion in a Chinese warehouse kills dozens (so far) and causes huge devastation.

This is what happens in socialist countries, Womby. Because they skimp on basic safety items in order to maximize economic growth and profits to be redistributed to their supporters.

What was that you were saying about socialism, mope?

exactly, one of the reasons Cuba has managed to survive after Russia hasn't been able to support them as they used to is cause Cuba started moving toward a middle ground between socialism and capatilism. . . they just don't call it capatilism. What Republicunts refuse to acknowledge is that the US has many elements of capatilism and that's whats helped us to succeed for so long. . .like social security, I know they will say social security is evil, but the sky is falling warning that Reagan gave before social security became law was wrong then and these fools are wrong now.

You're just babbling. First of all Cuba considers itself a Communist country, one of the few left along with China, N. Korea, Laos and Viet Nam. There's no middle ground to it. The whole point of this thread was to correlate a work related illness because of capitalist greed. There's greed everywhere in all economies. You goofy liberals think socialism will deliver us from all evils and we will all live happily ever after. Nothing but fairy tale bullshit.

You missed the point entirely, not suprising. My point is that both Capatilism and Socialism left to their own devices would collapse. Cuba can call itself whatever it wants. In practice, they do have elements of capitalism and they have been moving closer to that middle ground for decades now. The real world is not awach with only black and white, there are countless shades of gray. . . those who don't recognize nuance are only holding back discourse.

No, I didn't miss the point. You don't know what you are talking about. Cuba is a communist country. They don't have any remnant of Capitalism over there. Capitalism left to it's own devices doesn't collapse. It's crony capitalism and socialism that eventually collapses. There is a difference. America doesn't need to abandoned Capitalism and jump to Socialism that's not going to fix anything. No form of economy is fool proof anyway. It's much easier to work with and improve what we already have.

misspelled a word, therefore the entire point can be thrown out. . . what a great argument you got there.

I didn't say remnants, I said elements because they do have have elements of capitalism. Its not really an adult argument to say they have ZERO elements of capitalism.

I never said we should abandon capitalism for socialism. you say no form of economy is fool proof. . . I completely agree. I also agree that we should work with what we have and improve it. What I hear a lot of is the demonizing of socialism. . . its like that old lady that berated Obama for Obama care calling it socialist as if it were evil incarnate. . . then she went on to say. . "and don't you dare touch my social security". . . not realizing the glaring contradiction.

Taxes collected? You've got corporations like ExxonMobil that receive government tax breaks to the tune of hundreds of millions a year. They pay a relatively small percentage in taxes, between 13-19 percent over the last 5 years, when the corporate rate is 35. They've had record profits, big surprise. What else is that, if not greed? What is it driven by? Profit. Greed is a byproduct of that need for profit.

Please. China is economically democratic. What do you call it here in the US when factories explode or companies steer their runoff and it pollutes the groundwater. Is that due to socialism? Socialism usually values production for production's sake, that's a hallmark of social democracy. Not valued for profit. So your point is moot. And stupid. Companies in the US skimp on safety concerns to maximize profit. What's the difference?
